MDX Type S owners, What changes would you like to see for 2025?

What's up everyone. Longtime lurker, I haven't posted in awhile. I'm still thinking about purchasing a mdx type s for the Mrs and occasionally me (when I drive her around), but it's looking like I'll be in for a 2025 versions. She is a right lane driver and loved the feel of the 2020 Mdx, I recommended a Type S for the times i drive. I still love Acura's even tho I got M550I recently ( outside of me getting a NSX ,Acura didnt have enough power for my semi DD) This question is for the owners of MDX Type S vehicles.

Would you buy it again?

What are the changes you hope to see for the 2025 MMC?

What is it that you just totally dislike about you car?

What is your alternative if you changing from your Type S?

Would you buy it again? Yes I have a 22 MDX Type S

What are the changes you hope to see for the 2025 MMC? Add ventilated seats for the rear seats with Advance Package, make ALL door windows acoustic glass, More customization for the digital display for driver, Offer illuminated door sills that change colors with the other mood lighting in the vehicle

What is it that you just totally dislike about you car? Nothing that I totally dislike

What is your alternative if you changing from your Type S? 24 BMW X5 M6 Competition for the speed thrill

I have a 2024, it's by far the best car I have ever had. Things I would like to see? Well if they could match the gas mileage of the X5 it would be nice, but not a deal breaker. I absolutely love this car.

I have a 2023 and agree that it is the best car i have had as well. I'm averaging 24 MPG so happy with that too.

I’d like to see the car delivered with a spare tire installed. Accessory Kit has been back ordered for a few months now…. Otherwise I really enjoy the vehicle.

22 Type-S Adv co-owner, so same boat as you. We got the S part of MDX mainly for me, but my wife also enjoys the effortless driving and the quick steering. I highly recommend crossing out non-S, as the ride quality gap between the S and non-S is huge.

Yes, I would buy it again. Still a great value if you don't need the best interior/powertrain.
For 2025, I hope Acura recalibrate the brakes to add a little more travel for easier modulation in stop-n-go. Retune 10AT in Sport+ to reduce the free-wheeling sensation during certain downshifts. More engine noise in Sport+.
Fuel economy. Still wish the upper door panels are leather wrapped.
X5/X7 for sure, definitely not CX-90.

Thank you everyone for your responses, it's good to see everyone is still happy with the purchases and nothing major in the desires for the upcoming model. I'm fully confident she will love it when she test drives it. We're definitely going to wait for that 2025 and see if Acura is listening to their customers a little bit.

Touchscreen would be great and I noticed none of you mentioned that as a complaint, so you just have to get use to the track pad thingy like i figured. A bigger screen would be nice, they have the wide-screen in the Genesis and it looks good.

I’m getting 18 MPG from my 2022 Type-S Advance, so for 2025, I think it would be great for Acura to improve the gas mileage. That is literally the only complaint that I have about the car. It has everything that I could want, which is why I’m interested to see what improvements Acura will make, because I can’t really think of many. Maybe add more, or all USB-C ports, since most phones going forward will utilize them, but that’s about it.

Not a type S owner, but below would convine me to become one in 2025.

- return of hybrid powertrain
- touchscreen w google builtin
- Acurawatch 360+ (handsfree highway driving and self patallel parking) like the ZDX

I would trade in my 19 MDX Adv Sport Hybrid if the Type-S Adv had:
- Sport Hybrid powertrain with 3.0T (+420 hp/tq, 23-25 mpgs always)
- adjustable pedals (I'm 6'3" and the wife is 4'11")
- rear hatch glass that opens
- ventilated 2nd row seats
- real "cooled" front seats (live in the southwest with 100-115 degree F days in summer)
- 2nd row seat with inside armrest when center seat is removed.
- 3 zone A/C and heat
- rear camera view option for rear view mirror
- piano black delete option
- you can special order any color combo together
- you can "set it and forget it" in any standard or custom IDS mode

None of this ain't gonna happen and I can wait to see if the 4th Gen MDX Type-S is "one and done" or if the next 5th gen MDX will have and Type-S option.

Please - when I deactivate the “engine shut off at stoplights” function, it needs to stay off forever.

I’d also like these options: Gloss black exhaust tips, A bit wider option side steps (Black option of course), Remove the Gloss black interior trim and replace with another design/style

I have a 2024, the car is nearly perfect for my taste, but since you asked...
  • USB-C connections everywhere
  • 400hp/400ft*lbs in SPORT, 450hp/450ft*lbs in SPORT+ (arbitrary numbers - whatever they can achieve without compromising reliability is welcome)
  • built-in nav that can save custom labeled addresses (as is, you can't associate a name with an address)
  • built-in nav better traffic integration (google maps & apple maps seem to have more accurate traffic info)

I know this post is about Type S,but I think this goes with all MDX - the infotainment isn't that great. Acura needs to take a look at the new chev and ford systems as well as others. Way easier to operate and more intuitive. I know I will get used to it as time goes on, but I was given a Integra as a loaner, touch screen. Wow, much better. But still clunky. I think its the Apple car play that is the most clunky, go from point to corner and it works to use the touchpad like a mouse? Not sure I understand why they did it the way they did in 2022 and on. Hopefully they update it on the next refresh. I also think the ELS radio is a downgrade from my 2011. It sounded much better and could shake the car, this one, not so much. I miss the surround sound from the TL. Is the radio in the Type S that much better? more speakers, but is it the step up it should be?

I would have liked to seen the type S when we were buying but they didn't have one around. I also tried to look at at TLX type S but the dealer didn't have one of those either. I guess the illusiveness of it gives it the premium price. I think for $80K or more, you can find a better sports car. I would not be able to Justify $30K over the car I purchased. I guess my biggest disappointment with Acura is they have too many variations of the model. back when we bought the TL, there was tech or not tech and AWD or not. The MDX should only be available in AWD and there should be a well equipped tech package with everything, not missing the features on the advanced and a Type S, maybe an A-spec in the middle to give a sporty feel without the sporty price tag?

Finally, local dealers need to get off their high horse and stop selling at 2nd sticker - $10K over MSRP - no one is doing that anymore and people shouldn't be dumb enough to pay the markup. I can tell you the person that purchased my car in 2022 and traded it in with only $10K miles, lost $28K or more - the original sticker is in the glove box. They maybe got $40K for the trade?... That isn't sustainable. Screw people once and they don't come back - take care of them and they come back over and over.

I like the infotainment, I got used to it very quickly.
As for the ELS audio on my Type S, it sounds pretty much like my Martin Logan speakers at home - amazing. I doubt there is a big difference vs a non-Type S MDX, I tested a plain MDX Advance a couple of years ago and I was super impressed with the audio. The comfie air ride and massage seats motivated me to finally get an MDX.
