2022 Acura MDX Type S ONEpack Newsletter

2022 Acura MDX Type S ONEpack Newsletter:

INTRODUCTION
The 2022 MDX Type S vehicles have been at the dealers for a few weeks now, and it seems like people are happy with their luxury vehicle. We would like to update you, our
dealers, with the latest service information to help you provide your clients with a positive experience.

NEW MODEL LAUNCH ACTIVITY
We continue to hold triweekly meetings to discuss Tech Line contacts, warranty claims, Acura Client Relations contacts, parts demand, and other vital service-related
issues. To respond quickly to issues that may arise, we need your help. Please review the following information.

GENERAL REMINDERS
1. Warranty Claims
For American Honda to respond quickly to field issues, we must be made aware of them quickly. Many times, the first step in an investigation is collecting parts for
inspection. So, please submit all 2022 MDX Type S warranty claims daily, if possible, and return any called-in parts promptly. Closely follow the instructions on the warranty
parts return request, and pack them carefully so they are not damaged during shipping.

2. Tech Line
Tech Line is often the first place we become aware of an emerging issue. If you find any technical concerns during the initial 60–90 day launch period, report these items to
Tech Line immediately. Be prepared to provide all relevant details about the issue you are reporting. Send Tech Line at least 4-digital quality photographs (see list below)
relating to the problem as it is a very effective method of sharing market concerns with American Honda. Please make sure that the photographs are clear. If the issue
involves a noise, submit a quality video with sound or a sound clip.

1) A photograph of the VIN label in the driver’s doorjamb.

2) A photograph of the concern from a distance of 3 to 5 feet away.

3) A close-up of the concern about 18 inches away from the issue.

4) A close-up of the affected area or item, using the macro setting on the camera.
Note: The Tech Line inbox has a limit of 20 MB per email, so when sending photos or short video clips, adjust the size accordingly or send separate emails. Videos can be
reduced in size by using a resolution of 30 frames per second or less.

3. Battery Collection
Often, we need to quickly inspect and validate the reason behind the failure. However, when the dealer is contacted by AHM, the battery might already have been picked up,
and we are left without a battery to analyze.

During this 60- to 90-day One-Pack period, please hold onto the failed batteries for 5 days, to give us a chance to contact you and request shipment back to Torrance, CA.
We understand this can be a burden, but batteries need to be collected and analyzed to improve the product.

TECHNICAL NOTES
• Electronic Air Suspension (EAS)
The EAS system is sensitive to temperature fluctuations (hot temperatures during the day and cool at night) and can cause the front end to drop in height while these Type
S vehicles are parked overnight. This makes the vehicle look uneven from front to back. After the engine is started, the suspension should then even out. This drop in height
can also be caused by the heat of the engine and then parking in a cool location.

With that said, during the line assembly process the air line on the EAS control unit may not have been set correctly on some early production 2022 MDX Type S vehicles
causing a minor air leak.
If there is a leak from the EAS control unit fittings, these fittings can be ordered as a service part and it does not require the need to replace the entire EAS control unit
assembly. Report any of these vehicles that leak from these fittings and order part number 51862-TYB-A02 to repair the problem.

• Rear Battery Cover
We have been receiving some reports of missing or broken rear battery cover knobs.
To access the rear battery cover on the Type S vehicles, turn the knobs on the battery cover 90 degrees counterclockwise to unlock. You will feel a click when the knobs are
unlocked. Pull the cover straight upwards to remove it.

If you find any missing or broken knobs, report them and be ready to ship the failed parts back to us.
