Yokohamas going bad
Starting at 6k miles, the Yokohama AVS es-100's that came on my Tl a-spec started to make noise, a whine with wheel slap. The rotation at the A1 service only made it worse. Now at 9k miles, they are too loud to bear. What is a good replacemnet option for them? I am looking for something that has similar performance but is more quiet. Tirerack shows the General Exclaim UHP as a good fitment for my car. Anyone have experience with the UHP's, or can recommend another tire?
Thanks

I had the same problem with the ES-100's (235/45 17). Yokohama replaced them with AVS-DB-S2 (more expensive tires) prorated. Yokohama was concerned about loosing me as a Yoko customer, so they replaced the tires without any hassle. You should try contacting Yoko and explaining your problem. I purchased the ES100's from Tires Plus, so they handled all the paperwork.
As far as recommending another tire, I've got 6K on some Yoko YK-520's. Best riding tire i've had on the car. There is an old thread about the 520's.
Good Luck

Yoko YK 520
With the Bridge Turanzas shot, I just installed the V rated YK 520's last week after much research, for an all season tire that retains handling/performance, improves ride, and longer tread life - all at a more reasonable price. Impressions after 500 miles: Quieter, nice stable feel with comparable performance ( high speed curves), Look very sporty with wide groove tread pattern for wet conditions - which haven't been able to test yet. However the ride comfort is not improved much, if at all. Still feel road bumps, cracks in surface, etc, but I'm feeling that with the TL's suspension and 45 low profile tires, a comfortable ride is only imagined by other tire reviewers that are really placing more emphasis on the "sporty" aspect of the TL. I love driving the car, and these tires are fine, with a strong point of predicted MUCH longer tread life, but reality is - The TL will never give you the smooth non-bouncy/jiggly ride regardless of tire brand - as witnessed by my experience riding in Michlen Sprt AS, Pirelli ZN, Conti extreme, equiped 04, 05, TL's. I'll post later on the treadlife aspect of the Yoko's.
