just bought a set of 245/45/17 yokohama avid envigor, read up and they seemed like good tires i uped the size from stock at the 235 to the 245 size hearing it handles better. Any opinions?

Just put a set on but the wife has been driving the car. I never drove with them on the car. They look good.

My wife's TL has (had) them. They were a nice, quiet ride, plenty of grip in the dry and wet. They did alright in the snow we had the 1st of Dec, but I put a set of Blizzaks (ws70's) on it for the winter. The Envigor's have about 3000 miles on them and no complaints.

Drove it today. Agree, same words exactly nice,not loud. Look great. Will run through winter.

Does anyone know if these Envigors are the replacement for the Yok Avid 4s (95W I think)? I have had these on my '04 TL for the past 46,000 miles! Best tire I have had on my TL. Now I do not see them anywhere though - wonder if they were discontinued.

W4s were discontinued and the Envigor tire line is far from a replica of the W4s. The W4s in 245/45-17 had a tread width of 9.1" compared to the Envigor's small size of only 8.3". Also, the W4s in the 245 size was a 95W rated tire while the Envigor is a 99W extra load tire.
Have a brand new set of 245/45-17 W4s sitting in the garage waiting for the S4's to die, but it looks like it's going to be a lomg wait.

I use the Avid 4s in 225/50/16 on another car. They are were great tires. I think I must have bought twelve. I buy tires under the same criteria all the time so at some level they are similar. I like the 245/45/17 envigors on the 2004 better than the 235/45/17 michelins on the 2008
