Yokohama Avid Ascend vs Continental ExtremeContact DWS

About to buy new tires (2005 TL) and was going to go with DWS, which I used previously and really enjoyed, when my mechanic recommended the Ascends. He mentioned the benefits of a non-directional tire and something to do with orange oil. The ascend's would be a little bit cheaper and have a 65k tread warranty vs 50k on the DWS so I figured it was worth asking. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

See http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...y.jsp?ttid=166 and http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...jsp?ttid=165-- the DWS is an all season ultra-high performance tire, while the Avid Ascend is a grand touring tire with a lower speed rating.

You might want to consider the competing tires in each category, too.

G/L.
