Cool XXR 527 wheel advise for Koni Yellows + Pro Kit (no fender rolling)

Hey guys,

I finally got around to replacing my stock rotors today with some X-drilled/slotted and looks like I'm going to be needing some new tires/wheels. [let's put it this way, the TL isn't going anywhere anytime soon until I get the replacement].

I've been looking at the XXR 527 and I really like 'em for my 3G AM-MT. It seems that everyone at least the handful of threads that I've read were running +20ET but with some fender work [which I prefer not to deal with].

This is my daily driver and I don't want to sacrifice the ride with some 35 series or stretched tires. Plus the roads here (Raleigh) are horrible and the DOT or the city love to leave the manholes sticking out or always road constructions around the corner.

In any case, I digggg the concave appearance but as mentioned, if I can keep the aggravation to minimum then I prefer that.

Here are my plans:
I have a set of Koni Yellows and Pro Kit waiting to be put on. I'm guessing it will be about an inch drop front and back. What wheel offset and size (18x8.5/18x9.5) and what tires size (non-stretched) will I need to to:
1. Clear the Brembo's
2. No fender rubbing = no fender rolling/cutting
3. Does not sacrifice ride quality as a daily car
4. Yet giving the car a pretty good stance
5. I don't care much for staggered effect either

I read so much relating to this particular wheel type and what others have done, just curious of someone got the same setup as (I would eventually have) and can offer good advise.

FYI: I'm going with Chromium Black to go with AM.

Thanks guys!

you can go with an 18x9 +40ish... you should call xxxr to make sure it'll clear brembos first
and 235/40 should work fine

Thanks, but from what I was reading, anything other than +20ET doesn't have the concavity

There will probably be minimal concavity with the higher offset. but there is no other way. You can't have it both ways with those rims. You can try other rims which will give you more concavity at a higher offset like Rota Grids or something.

You can go with a +35 offset if you dont want to do fender work but there will be minimal concavity. As for stance, you have to be lowwww to pull these wheels off

Hey TLDude,

Just to make sure, +35 18x8.5 (or should/can I go with 9.5?) will clear the brembo calipers? I gues 225/40 series would be adequate right?

Thanks for the tip.

The sizes available are 18x8.75 and 18x9.75. I suggest you go with 18x8.75 + 35 if you dont want to do any fender work. It should clear brembo's and yes 225/40 is perfect as thats the same size i'm running

Heh... I guess made up my own sizes Anyways, thanks for the helpful information. I think I'm going to go with Chromium Black 18x8.75 +35ET with 225/40 series. I'm going to buy the wheels hopefully before the end of the week.

While waiting, I'm gonna go ahead and drop the car and when I get the wheels, I'll slap and post pix.

Thanks again!
