Winter wheels/tires

Guys,

I need to get new tires on my 07 TL. I currently live in Pittsburgh where we've been getting some inclement weather. Was going to just throw on some all-seasons, but with the amount I drive for work I thought getting a set of winter wheels/tires might be my best option. What is the bolt pattern for the wheels and would these fit?

4 SNOW TIRES, 8/32" tread left BMW winter tires on aluminum wheels

Thanks

There's something wrong with that ad, it says 5x114 bolt pattern wheels but BMW has always had 5x120 on all of their cars.

Our car's bolt pattern is 5x114 though.

Would these fit?

Based on this site it might work: Acura - Vehicle Bolt Pattern Reference - Discounted Wheel Warehouse

No, those are 5x115 wheels off of a Cadillac. Our cars require 5x114.3, which is often just referenced as 5x114. Try adding "114" to your craigslist search for winter tires.

While searching craigslist I always search "5x114" to find wheels.

AT or 6MT?

If 6MT, I use these wheels from TireRack for my dedicated winter wheels and they have been great and look great IMO:

If they fit a 6 spd with the Brembo calipers, they'll fit a base.

That's what I would assume, but TireRack doesn't list the AT as compatible for that wheel IIRC...

Tirerack isn't perfect, they'll fit just fine.

Related to this, I have a 2006 TL I got used last year. The car has the stock 17" rims, and as a bonus the previous owner gave me a set of winter snow tires in the same exact 235/45R17 size.

Since it costs $60 to mount the tires on/off ($120 annually), I figured paying a few hundred from used Acura OEM rims would pay for itself.

Locally there are a set of 2006 RSX type S wheels, that are 7" wide. Otherwise every dimension (offset, bolt, diameter) are identical.

Is it possible/safe to mount 235mm wide tires designed for an 8"rim onto a 7" wide rim?

There's quite a difference between wheels that are 17x7 +45 offset and 17x8 +45 offset.

Effective offsets are dependent on width.

In your case, 17X7 +45 will look really funny on a TL. Caliper clearance should be fine unless you have brembos.

235 is also too wide for 7" wheels. So the tyre will be folded over a bit.

Base model 04-08 TL wheels are easy to find. Around here, they're all over craigslist for $300 ish.
