Will these tires fit?

I found some tires on DTD and am curious as to whether 205/40/17 tires would fit on my OEM chrome Acura 5-spoke wheels. DTD says that 205/50/17 and 205/55/17 would fit so I don't know why they wouldn't list these as a fit unless I'm missing something. I'm no expert on tires by any means. The tires specifically are Hankook Ventus V4 ES H105. I currently have Sumitomo 235/45ZR/17. I'm pretty sure 235/205 means the the width of the tire in millimeters and 40/45/50/55 means the sidewall length from the wheel to the tread in millimeters. Any knowledge or info on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

205 is way too narrow for stock wheels. You need to stay as close to stock specs as possible so you don't throw off the speedometer.

I would not recommend a 205/40/17. You would have more tread on a 235/35/19 tire than you would on a 205/40/17 tire.

Just stick to the recommended size or do more research.

Even with bags or hydraulics thats a poor tire decision.

The first number is width in millimeters. The second number is height and is percentage of width, also in millimeters.

Run a tire calculator to find the total heighth in inches to see how much different a 205/40 is compared to a 235/45 tire and you will be amazed.

205 is way too narrow, you will just spin the tires every time you gun it.

Stocks are 235 in width and even those give to much wheelspin and not enough traction under acceleration and cornering.

This summer i'm going for some 255\40R17 (stock Type-s Rims) Witch will give me way better acceleration & braking with minimal tire spin.

I made a mistake, I'm currently running 245/45ZR/17. And I've heard narrow tires improve your traction in snow, and I do drive in the snow about once a month, and nope no hydraulics or bags. Thanks for the input fellas

I wouldnt go to 205 40 17 tire for an 8 inch wide wheel, thats a big stretch, you will lose tire height and will become pretty much worthless if you plan to drive in snow with it. I would go for a 215 45 17 tire for snow, im running a 225 45 17 winter tire on my stock 17s right now just because i couldnt find a good used 215 set for sale. But unless you have a extra set of wheels, i would stick to factory tire size of 235 45 17
