Will 255/45/17 fit on stock rims?
Will a 255/45/17 tire fit on the stock rims? I am thinking about the Falken Ziex ZE 512. I have read reviews on them an they are a very good price. I am just wondering if a 255 will fit on the stock rim. I have Falkens on my 19 inch wheels and tires and I am very pleased with them.

I don't know about 255/45/17. Is there any reason you don't do 255/40/17? There is a whole thread on why this is the tire to get for stock rims. Here's the link

From a technical standpoint the 255/45 is made for an 8-9.5" rim width while the 255/40 is to be used on an 8.5-10" wide wheel. Sky's the limit for people to put larger tires on smaller, or inadequate size wheels.
To answer your question, yes, the 255/45 is satisfactory for the factory 8” wheel.

I currently have 255/40-17 Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position tires on the stock '07 17x8 rims on my TLS. They were on temporarily until I could decide on what A-spec wheels to get. I think for my color ASM, I have decided on the Sparkle Silver since my color is light. Tires work great and look awesome. Thought they were too wide before they were mounted, but turned out perfect. I was concerned with rim protection because the stock 235/45-17 tires were just to small and didn't protect the rims.
