Will 17x7 with a 40 mm offset work?

Will 17x7 with a 40 mm offset work?

Stock height with 215/50/17 tires. Anyone know?

What wheels are these? You would be better off with a +45 or greater offset to preserve wheel geometry.

Konig Tantrum. I don't think they make a +45 on a 17".

I have this big thing about rubbing, so I'm trying to find the best rim/tire setup so I don't have to worry about stuff like trimming. Would the same wheel with 18x7.5, +45, 225/40/18 tires work better?
