Will '05 TL wheels fit my '02 RL?

Hi all,

First post! Going to look at these wheels later tonight and want to know if they will fit my car. They are from a 2005 TL and are 17"wheels, I have a 2002 RL...will they fit? The 2005 was a sport edition I think.

TL's are 5 x 114.3 pcd. Thought the RL was 5 x 120 pcd?

Just checked on Originalwheels.com and found that both the 2002 RL & 2005 TL run 5x115 so I'm assuming that means I'm good to go? What do you think?

If you look over on the Tire Rack wheel site, one of the fitment options is a 8" wide +45mm offset, 5 x 114, same as the TL, so I gues it would be considered a go. They do recommend a 225 tire size though, so I guess some experimenting on the tire size is in order.

You PM'd me, but your Inbox is full. So, here goes .... Mine are 2003 TLS wheels. Not sure if 2005 TL wheels would fit, but seems like it should, as they are both 5x114 and 45 mm offset. However, the 2005s are wider, like Turbo mentions above. The 2003s are 7" wide, FYI. You would be pretty unique if you could make them fit.

My apologies to the mods for posting in the wrong section.

Thanks for the replies guys. I picked up the wheels this morning for $200/set. Shot over to a couple of used tire shops and picked up 4 Michelins. I went with the tirerack recommended 225/50/17s but yes, the TL wheels are 17X8 so they stick out a bit more than the 16X7 stock RL wheels. The tires sit just outside of the wheels. I'd prefer a bit more so I guess I should have gone with 235s but I'll just replace them when it's time for new tires. The 225s I got today are used so they'll prob last 20k tops. But if I were to go with 235s, I would probably want a 45 ratio to even out the diameter? What do you suggest?

But yes, the 2005 TL wheels fit the RL albeit a bit wide.

Actually the 235/45 will be about 1/2" smaller in diameter but give a wider footprint depending on the tires you select as specifications vary within a specfic tire size.

So if I went with 235/50/17 in the future, I would be ok in terms as diameter? As close to OEM diameter as possible?

Here are some quick pics of my set up.
