Well I've been pondering on what other sizes fit on the tl stock rims. It's a 8 inches wide. .. I figured 245 / 40 17... even 255 35 17... if they make it. Yes I know. I could spend money on new wheels. .. or even get the type s wheels from the 07... OoOo... but the type s wheels are the same exact dimensions on width size and even the offset (I think)...

If you do a quick search you will find several threads on this topic. There is one really long thread on 255/40/17. I did that for years as have others . 245/45/17 is also fairly common as well. Do a quick search and/or let us know and other members can find you some of the threads.

I see you are in OK, so I don't believe you get all that much of the white stuff, but if you do, wider is not what you want.

Like Justin I ran 255/40/17 with Summer only performance tires and then had a second set of rims with dedicated Winter tires on my 04 TL. My current set up is 255/40/18 Michelin Pilot Super Sports on my ASpec rims (8.5" width) for Summer and 245/45/17 Bridgestone Blizzaks on my Type S "waffles" for Winter. I have wider than OEM winter tires only because I got a crazy deal on CL.
