Widening fender flares with "heat treatment"
The other day, I come out of the gym, and I see the awesome AMG M.B. CLK... but instead of having AMG wheels... it had Brabus wheels... really, really wide ones... Anyway, the owner just happen to be leaving and we started talking... I asked him why he's got Brabus wheels on, and he simply said.. he didn't like the AMG ones... but what's interesting is.... he told me that the people at Brabus used some kind of heat treatment to widen the fenders in order to fit the big fat wheels/tires w/o rubbing... and, yet... you can't tell that the fenders had been altered. Maybe I haven't been paying enough attention... but I've never heard of that... does anyone know about this treatment, and is it possible for our cars to have that done?

i *think* that guy meant they used heat to prevent the paint around the wheel arch from possibly cracking when his fender lips were being rolled to increase clearance for those wider wheels and tires. the two should always be done together, and this technique can be applied to any car. the alternative is shaving the fender lips but i believe the euro cars do not have a flat fender lip like our cars, so most times, they end up rolling it
but yeah, BRABUS rules!!!

Oh, I see... yeah, the guy was older, and didn't know much about anything... he didn't even know is awesome wheels were 3 piece... nor did he know what a 3 piece wheel was... I had to explain to him.
