Question Wheels 101

My past is rebuilding engines, restoring muscle cars, etc... so if you want me to get HP out of 350 small block... no problem. But this is new territory for me. So please excuse what may be silly questions... it sure won't be my last.

I have NEVER purchased after market wheels. What are the dos and don'ts for doing so? Are there vendors to stay away from? I'm not going to race my TL... I'm after style... the cool factor. Was thinking 18s or 19s. I'm not a fan of the 20+s. So what should I look for... what should I avoid?

I've got a silver with black interior.

Thanks again for the help.

I have a feeling this will get moved to the Tires, Wheels, and Suspension subforum.

Have you started with the stickies on the top of that subforum?
This is the 3G TL Garage on tires and wheels: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109959

For pictures, check out the Photograph Gallery subforum, especially the "The Modified TL Gallery" and the "Dub Club"

im' far from a wheel expert, but my advice would be to look for forged wheels (especially if you live in a city w/ a looot of potholes [i.e. NYC, Philly, etc.]). They're stronger, so they aren't prone to bending (esp if you have a lip on your wheels). However, going fast enough, (i'd say 65+) and hitting a pothole, it might crack the rim.
