word, i'm looking at rims and even tho 19s are sexy....just unsprung weight to the max. I'm thinking going 18s w/ michelin PS2s, the PS2s are approx 22 lbs! way lighter than Bridgestone RE050 PolePos./Falkens/GY, etc.

Anybody know what the TL-S rims weigh?

i thought about going 18s but instead im looking for good 17" wheels that are light. not really after looks, just to optimize the car's strengths.

If you don't care about looks, get Volk RE 30's in 18", they weigh 16.5#

I think the stock wheel weighs about 27 lbs. or so. The 19's that I bought weigh less than the stock 17's.

Hows the performance difference between stock wheels and your lightweight wheels?

If the wheels are TOO light its a lot easier to spin out when u punch it.

I heard the performance is alot better with lightweight rims due to less rotational mass

I've used Sport Edition wheels (Tire Rack) for a few sets of winter tires and had good luck with them. An added bonus is that they're quite a bit lighter than the OE wheels. They're not the snazziest looking wheels, but they seem to be strong and the finish lasts. They're available in a variety of sizes and styles. I know where you're coming from wanting lighter wheels. I'm running 17x8 TL wheels on my TSX and I swear I can literally feel the added weight when I pull away from a dead stop (and the OE TSX wheels are no lightweights either).

Yes. It’s getting worst if your car is TOO light. That’s why they are spending billions making those racing cars as light as possible.

That’s right. It’s also better if rims are smaller.

i guess to rule of thumb is to find that happy medium of weight, strength, looks, and size...tough debate though, i've been playin it for 3 weeks!

Regarding rims, you have to make the choice between looks and performance. Depending on your choice, others can tell your preference. They're the biggest statement we can make on our cars.

With the extreme summer tires, there is NO wheel spin, even with VSC off.

No you don’t, because one does not exclude the other.

I just wonder what that statement may be when you cripple your car with some huge heavy wheels with almost no rubber on it?
