Wheel and Tire Review ASA ST4/General UHP

So, about 3 weeks ago I purchased a set of 19 x 8 ASA ST4's from tirerack with the newest General Exclaim UHP Tire. A personal reference from tirerack that I have known for a few years now reccomended these tires highly against the Kumho Ecsta MX and SPT, Eagle RS-A and F1 GSD (in Europe), Yokohama ES100's, Pilot Sport A/S (in Europe) and other high end tires in that class.

In tirerack's personal testing, the General came out higher than most in the Ultra High Performance category, even though they are rated as a M+S tire! They were actually rated 1st out of 46 tested tires in their category, and in the tests conducted in Europe, they even beat out the Eagle F1 GSD's as far as overall performance. The reviews on tireracks site from consumers ranks it at an 8.6 average, and that is coming from owners of everything such as GTO's, CLK55's, TL's Legend's, and tons of other cars.

My impressions so far: After about 1500 miles, I am in love with these tires. They are incredibly responsive, very quiet (not as quiet as I'd like, but oh well) and very very sticky! Granted I am running 19's with a 245/35 tire, I can't even get a chirp in 2nd gear unless I am really trying. Wet traction is also superb, which is one reason I went with these over the Kumho Ecsta MX. Tread wear rating is at 380, well above that of the Kumho, and traction ratings are AA and A respectively.

The even better part about it is that in the 245/35/19, they were $126 each!!!

Anyways, just thougt I'd share my Here are some pics for ya too!

The tread pattern:

AND FINALLY: The reason my rear went flat today.... $52 LATER cuz they had to dismount the tire and patch it from the inside!

haha....Thanks!

I still turn and look at the car every time I walk away. The wheels just flow incredibly well with the lines of the car IMHO.

If you do order them, call tirerack and go to ext 364 (Jim). I have met him personally, and he is an awesome guy!

dude. i LOVE it. i've got a black 06 TL. i got rear ended about 2 months ago, and ill be getting my car back on monday. I already ordered those Rims in Chrome 19 x 8.5. I havent gotten my car back yet. You sitting on stock height? do you know the offset of these wheels?? i actually went for Dunlop Sport SP Maxx 235/35/19. I hope my tires are as good as you say your's are. I ordered them through the body shop, so i paid $269 a wheel (chrome) instead of $319. and the tire was like $217 instead of $263
