wheel spacers question!

so, i'm planning on getting a pair of 15mm spacers for my rear wheels just to make them sit more flush with the fender.

i noticed that there were two types of spacers...
the kind that have studs pressed into them, which require no replacement of stock studs and the kind that need stock studs to be replaced with extended studs.

i was just wondering... which kind would be better? i was looking at H&R and the ichiba ones. H&R only offers the kind where you have to replace the stock studs, and ichiba offers the ones with studs pressed into the spacer.

pros/cons of each?

thanks, guys.

Personally I'd rather replace just the stiuds, but on the TL it a major problem in the front, time and expense, so most will go with the spacers that have the studs incorporated, Ichiba.

Thanks, guys!! Looks like the ichiba v2's are heavily favored. I was leaning towards a set of those because I don't have to change out the stock studs. Now the only thing is finding out if my rims have the little spaces for the stock studs that stick out through the spacers.

Would you guys happen to know if most wheels have those spaces? I have EXE wheels... Kinda too lazy to take the wheel off my car and look. Also... About how much would those stock studs stick out from the spacers?

my stock studs dont stick out far enough for it to be a problem, but then again i have larger spacers then you are looking at, but i wouldnt think it would be a problem in your case

My cousin and I were putting in Ichiba V1 spacers for the rears. Omg. What a bitch. Save yourself the time and get the V2's. Oh, and in the batch of studs fro the v1, we had to grind some of them down slightly because a few were big compared to others. Big as in longer and wider.

I was all for going with the spacers with built-in studs, until I realized that if there isn't enough space for the stock studs behind the wheels, they'll have to be cut. Then, if they're cut too far, there's a chance that there might not be enough threads for the lug nuts when you put the stock wheels back on. So I just opted to replace the studs and get open-ended lug nuts for like $35 or so.

Why do you say it's a major problem in the front? I replaced the studs in the rear and it was extremely easy, is there something in the front that makes it harder?

The rear was easy? Bah, maybe my cousin took the hard way around.

Ive been checking around and I found some interesting threads in a Nissan maxima forum about the ichiba v2's. The guy who put it on his car said that they became very loose and caused the wheel to wobble while driving. It eventually snapped a couple of the studs.

This doesn't seem to be a problem with TL owners, but it is still the same product and makes me kinda iffy.

I don't think I'll be getting the v1's for sure. I'm getting it installed at a shop because they have to roll my fenders anyway and theyre gonna charge me a ridiculous amount for the installation of the longer studs. I'm not good at these kinds of things, nor do I have the proper equipment (no jack and jack stands!!!). I did check my rims and they do have the space required for the stock studs that stick out through the spacer.

Now the only question is the safety issue.

How much are they going to charge you to put in the studs?

Not sure on the exact price for the install, but I'm guessing $150 since he quoted me around $300 parts and labor. He said he wasn't sure yet because he'd have to look at the car before he gives me a definite price.

Can't replace the studs, in the front, without removing the hub assembly.

I installed 15mm rear Ichiba V2 last week. I'm waiting for the front ones to arrive. Definitely looks a lot better. No vibrations for me so far. Torqued everything to 80lbs.

Yeah that's ridiculous if it's $150 a side; $150 total isn't bad tho.

Same with the rear so I guess it's the same difficulty

80lbs. should be good? i'm concerned about the lugs getting loose...

i'm PRETTY sure it was $150 for both sides! if it's $150 each, i'd might as well save a little extra and buy wheels that have the right offsets to fill out the fender gap instead

anyways, guys... i placed the order for ichiba v2's today. total for parts and labor came out to $165 - this includes the fender rolling as well. my car is gonna be going through an extreme makeover in the next week or so. i'll be sure to update you guys once everything's done! thanks for all your help! appreciate it!
