Question ::::::Wheel offset Question::::::

do you guys think that 19 x 9.5 with 20mm offset with 275/19/35 tires is too much for the rear wheels? what about 19 x 8 with 35mm for the front, would it rub when wearing 245/19/35 tires? i have tein springs on my car, so it's sitting 1.3 inch lower. i need some skooling about offset, i only know a little bit. thanks

I've been trying to make some of the same decisions. 275/30-19's (using 9.5" rims) will work in the back (the 35's don't work but there are others runningf the 30's in the pics section of this forum) In the front you have to go down to a significantly smaller wheel. I'm not certain how small that is yet as I too am awaitign some additional information from some of the dealers/drivers who are more familiar. I like the look of the Maya STM's and they come in an 8.5 and 9" width for the 19" wheel but they are also VERY pricey. Seems the less expensive rims only come in certain offsets and skinnier widths (say an 8" rim)

Since the TL is a front-wheel drive some say the larger wheels on the rear look "funny". They also slow the car down (more weight). If that's the look you want you can still do it just be aware that those who KNOW this is a front wheel drive car will wonder what your thinking.

very true about the weight... really all i want in order 2 b satisfied is to have rims with a nice lip that is deeper on the rear, and also is further out so that it lines up more with the fender flare...

35mm will work with a 245/35/19.......you can do a 19x8.5 all around or you can do a 19x8.5 front & 19x9.5 or 19x10 in the rear with no rubbing. This was the setup I was going for before I went for the 20s.

i want the wheels to line up with the fender flares. i see that 19 x 8 with 35mm does it for the front, but would 19 x 9.5 20mm be safe for the rear?

I don't think you can use a 20mm offset in the 3 gen, the most is 35mm and they do line up with the fender flares.

for the size rims i want, they only offer 20mm and 40mm. and i def want a nice lip, the 20mm will move the wheel out .9 inch from the inside and outside. would that fit ok?

i just would really like a deeper lip in the rear, kshawn had 19x9.5 or 19x10 in the rears... with wider rims couldn't 20mm fit then?

Sorry my box was full......just cleared it. Yo the wheels are hot and I feel you on the lip but when you lower your TL, you can lower it really low and a even drop front and rear. I don't think you can use a 20mm offset.......if they offer a 38mm or a 42mm, go with one of the two. The setup I have is 20s.......20x10 in the rear with 255/30/20 & 20x8.5 in the front with 245/30/20.

How OLD are you EXACTLY? Your acting like a kid that's been told no and refuses to listen so hey ya! Go for it! As a matter of fact why don't you see if they have a 10 offset as that would give you a REALLY wide lip, right? Shesshh! The brain power that can afford a TL blows my minds sometimes. You DO realize that the 10" wide rim WILL give you the bigger lip (EVEN with the 35 offset), right? You can get the EXACT same setup K-Shawn has by going 10" rears and 35 offset. Afterall, that's what he has. What is your obsession with the 20 offset? Are they "super cheap or something with that offset? If so, it doesn't matter if they are free if THEY WON'T FIT ON THE FRIGGING CAR!!!!

what is this world coming to? you are twice my age but only have half the manners i do, so sad when young ppl gotta tell old folks that they are misbehaving... i understand... you have mid-life crises, i feel bad for you... especially when you talk smack through your cpu... typical from a middle age person... but someone like me, i'd rather lay you out right where u stand instead of talking, but then again i'm more sophisticated unlike some ppl (obviously you), don't pm me, don't respond to me, w/e u say from here on out i won't pay attention 2 u since i got things 2 do that are actually of some interest to me. ppl here only wanna talk about their cars... i pretty sure that nobody here gives a damn for your attitude.... its not that serious, get yourself laid or seek help

Who's lacking manners? It is you, not I. You asked and we told you numerous times the 20 offset would not work. YOu "ignored" these cautions when they were presented in a "gentle" light so it became pretty obvious that Polite" conversation was not working (with you). You in turn PM me with vulger messages. Not once did I tell you to go F---- yourself! YOU ARE THE ONE with a lack of tact. Yes, age shows! It shows that YOU have not got a clue. Once you learn that You is spelled "you" and no "u" and that when you start a sentance with I, you use a capital "I", not a lower case i. You are right. I don't give a flip about YOUR attitude. Your not worht the time. I simply tried to give you a direction. You ignored it. Although K-Shawn and I have had "minor" differences in the past, he too came on here and confirmed that the 20 offset would not work. You ignored that as well. Based on your current responses I FULLY expect that you have found some 20 offsets at a super cheap price that you are going to try and use (no matter what any of us say on here). If that's the case, then so beit. Good luck and although I will have you on ignore going forward, others may get a good laugh at you results when you try to use them on this car. Oh yea, and I won't send you any of those stupid little hand signals through icons (that apparently a 20-year old thinks is "cool". HaHa, your a joke. On ignore from here on out.

It is you who lacks manners. You are the one sending me PM's telling me to "go F--- Myself" simply because you don't like to hear that you can't do what you want to do. We tried to be pollite (both K-Shawn and I BOTH) told you the 20 offfset wouldn't work. If you want to be percieved as intelligent, why don't you try using the correct punctuation? No matter. You act like a child. You are treated as a child. Maybe you'll read this. Maybe you won't. Hopefully the mods will simply go ahead and close this thread as it appears to have come to it's logical end.

Use the +45 offset to be safe. Iwould highly advise not using anything lower than a +40 offset. If you purchase a multi piece wheel you can get bit more lip however when using a 1 piece wheel you asthetic values are a bit limited.

The lowest you can use........is a 35mm offset and it's safe.

I assume u r refering to the 9.5" width wheel?

actually i sort of have the same problem with HQTL6SPD. the wheels i want only comes in 20mm or 40mm but they r 8" width...

i know 8" with 20mm should fit nicely at the back(25mm outward compare to stock). however, am i asking for trouble if i have 8" with 20mm at the front (25mm outward) ?

All the guys running the Privat Netz are running the 30 offset in a 19x8" wheel and some of them have the Brembos. Are you saying that is dangerous or is it based on a wheel by wheel thing? Also, pretty certain you cannot run the 9.5" width at the front at all, right?
