Whats the lowest offset we can go ?

just wonder what is the lowest offset we can go ?

Right now i have a set of TE37s 18inch with a +48 offset

im thinking about getting a set of 18x8.5 +22 offset (GT-R Face style) 255/40/18
i also have a Stoptech BBK ... will it fill ?

If you have 8.5" wide rims, 35 is about the lowest offset you can go safely. 22 will stick out past the fender.

with 8.5", you can have 30mm offset front and back no problem. 22mm is just too low.

Are you sure? I'm running 8.5" with 35 offset and it's already very tight. I imagine 30 mm offset will rub like crazy.

I found a set of overstock wheels earlier this month that really liked. The wheels were 8.5-inch wide with 30mm offset. I wasn't sure that they'll fit, so I tried on my buddy's wheel that has similar specs. The wheel, even with narrow tires (235) stuck out pass the fender and rub up against the vehicle. I would do as 260HP says and steer away from any 8.5-inch wheel that is less than 35mm - just to be safe.

Now if the wheels was only 8-inch wide and not 8.5-inch with 30mm offset, then I think that may fit.

In order to preserve proper suspension geometry (i.e. scrub radius), the lowest (and highest) offset you can go is +45mm - the same as the stock wheel.

Varying my just a few millimeters can result in increased steering kickback, increased torque steer and pulling to one side while braking. Most FWD cars have a zero (or near zero) scrub radius.

The TL's suspension was designed around a +45mm offset. The engineers didn't just pull that number out of a hat - regardless of what any aftermarket wheel manufacturer tells you.

I should have said, "Most front wheel drive cars have a negative (less than zero) scrub radius..."

The bottom line is that their are adverse ramifications involved with changing wheel offset.

I don't have the measurements, but I bet $100 that 18x8.5 and 22 offset will stick out from the fender lip significantly.

I can send you my Paypal address and I take credit cards, too....

You are absolutely right (with correction later posted), but it is important only if you want to be fast. For some guys it doesn’t matter. They ride slow and low on their huge wheels with almost no rubber, enjoying roar of semi performance engine upgrade and they are happy.

19 x 8.5 (29mm Offset). I have an Acura TL 04. Will I have any problem with that offset?
