I'm currently using BF Goodrich G-Force Comp2 A/S got a good deal $100 per tire. So far they are riding smooth and quiet. Had Michelins pilot sport before. Got 43k out of them, but lots of road noise. Keep us informed about how the Sumitomo's perform.

Nankang NS-20 bought a full set on ebay for $250 shipped.. actually my 3rd set
super cheap summer tires with decent grip (360 treadwear)
heres a review of the tires from a blogger
Nankang Noble Sport NS-20 Review ? Nick's Car Blog
$ per performance this is probably the best tire i could find.. they do just fine for daily driving and hold up well with light spirited driving

I'm nearing the end-of-life on my third set of Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sports. I've been able to get 55-60K out of each set (about 2.5 years for me) and have been very happy them. They have enough grip for the off-ramps but don't wear fast (340 treadwear rating). However, I'm considering a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports for my next set. I'm not expecting them to last as long but I am expecting them to handle better.
Just in case you didn't know, treadwear ratings cannot be compared between tire brands because they are based on a manufacturer's reference tire (and each manufacturer brings their own reference tire to the test).

Michelin Pilot Super Sport on front/ Michelin Primacy MX4 on the rear, Bought the SS on before Xmas 2014 around 83-85k miles and now they are almost down to 4/32 tread currently at 100k miles. Bought the MX4 around late 2012 at 67k miles and now still have 8/32 tread. The grip on the SS is amazing on wet/dry traction, there is no snow here in Houston so I don't have to worry about. My 1st set was mean to driving in the snow during New England winter.

Drifting
I fear riding when on itty bitty skinny tires. I borrowed a buddy's bike a few years back that was a true racing bike with itty bitty tires....and it rode rough as hell (it was a CF frame which didn't help) and I was scared to death I was going to destroy the rim and/or tire when hitting bumps/cracks/holes. But it was light and fast as hell. I run slightly wider tires on my road bike to give me a tad more peace of mind since the paths around here aren't exactly in the greatest condition....as well as the "hope" I have a little bit of tread and dirt/sand across the path won't put me on the ground.

I was running 23mm for the longest time but i think my new GP4000s are going to be 25 if not 28. 25-28 is not bad at all. Running 23 in my mind was "less rolling resistance" it's not too bad depending on WHERE you ride. If i was riding all screwed up roads on a commute to work or something, I'd spring for something in the 28-32 width for the issues you described!

And their Winter traction sucks !!
And be sure to stay from Cooper RS3 A's. They dropped my gas mileage by an average of 4 MPG the moment I put them on so I wound up returning them per Cooper's 45 trial period.
Try the BF Goodrich g-Force COMP-2 A/S's, you won't be sorry!

On the TL I have had:
DWS- Comfy, but sucked for winter driving.
DW - Ok, not a whole lot of grip, one tire was defective, replaced under warranty by Conti.
Pilot Super Sports - Currently on car for summer, really like them road noise isn't bad and they have great grip, Haven't autoX with these.
Winter - General Altimax- loud but well worth it for the winter grip.
Integra- Hankook RS-3 V2, fantastic grip, good tread life and predictable. My track day instructors were impressed when I told them what tire was on my integra. I should point out my alignment helps alot here along with figuring out what pressure keeps the tires happy.

Currently have the Cooper Zeon Rs3-a on all four wheels. They were the best deal i could find and i am happy with how they work. I didnt notice a loss in fuel efficiency but that doesnt mean there isnt one. Got them for around 475cdn installed. Have used general, continental dws, and the oems before and they were all good to me so i just pick the cheaper one. The dws wore out quickly on my old tl because my rear camber was out of spec even after alignment... (Guess i had a few too pounds in the back on one trip.)
All tires suck in winter... Need to change the driving.

Great! I can't wait to get them. My only concern, and it's probably trivial, is that the tread width of the RE760s is about 0.25" wider than the Pilot Super Sports. The Michelins appear to have slightly rounder shoulders but I know the tires are better so I don't think there's anything to worry about.
