"Navi equiped 2005 TL's come with Michelin's and non-Navi TL's still have the EL-42's...."

my 05 came with the same tires which were OEM on most 2nd gen TL's: Michelin Pilot HX MXM4. Interesting that Acura went back to these tires after dumping them for 2004.
They are supposed to be "grand touring performance" tires, basically all-season performance. The reviews on Tire Rack are generally terrible. I sort of like them however. They are quiet and based on my 03 TL, will give you 40k+ mileage depending on how you drive of course. And they don't flat spot nearly as much many other low profile tires.
Their main drawback is they are expensive, so most people don't buy them again when it comes time to replace.

However if the Michelins do NOT hold up against the TL, I would consider going the other direction (cost wise) with something like an Avon or Kumho if they offer similar quiet / smoothness, and just replace them more frequently if they wear quickly.
Being in Florida, I do not need an all-season tire, and I can compromise a bit on performance as I do not drive my TL anywhere near it's limits. For me, my needs are smooth & quiet, wet traction and mileage / wear....in that order. If anyone has experience with replacement tires in those parameters, let me know. I'll add em to my wish list. Most reviews I have seen out here on replacement tires strive for ultimate performance or all season use which are not my top priorities for my driving conditions.
Thanks!

If you are in fla... get the Bridgestone S03 pole position tires for the car. What a different over the michelin. I had nothiong but bad luck with michelin tires the mmx4 they were pricey and had soft side walls. The S03s were great. I live in the north east and had to take them off the car in november...
