I have a piston reset tool that is a screw on (sits on top of the brake pad) to compress the piston back, however there is also a tool that is square in shape and uses the socket extension in a ratcheting fashion to basically turn the piston as it gets compressed. I think it is used for pistons that has a crossed inside bottom. Any thoughts on this? Does the 05 TL has this type of piston? Thank you. Joey G

Thats generally for rear calipers with screw-in piston parking brakes. The 3G TL does not have that type of rear parking brake. The 3G uses shoe type parking brake within the hub and rotor hat.

Any good tool collection should have a very large channel lock. It's a great versatile tool. Works quick and easy to compressing the pistons back. I use the old pad and center the tool on the pad and compress.

That expansion tool is good, but I've brokem 2 of them and have used a large C clamp for years, but that is difficult wiuth the 4 piston calipers, as that was the reason for the question.
