Well I went and did it...

I did spacers. I'm going to catch some hell I'm well aware. And @BROlando might be the first (love ya man) but I'll give some details. Although to some it won't matter. I bought this 2008 6MT in October of 2020 with 118,5xx miles. As of today it has 120,020. Yea it's a car that I love obviously and only take it out in good weather etc...boring I know.

I am on Tein Flex Z's, with rear SPC uppers. Modest drop as you will see. I'm still on the stock Type S wheels because honestly I can't find anything in a 17 or 18 - 8.5 I like. I want Vossen HF-5's but 19 is the smallest they go. Anyways...

New OEM ball joints put in 20 miles ago, Here you have 4 H&R Trak DRM 15mm adapters. With Permatex anti seize applied to the rear face of each spacer and all 4 wheels/hubs surfaces (whatever you wanna call them) gone over and cleaned with wire cup brushes. All 4 adapters and wheels were torqued to 90 ft lbs...yes I know OEM is 80. Ever handled a new part in your hands and just felt confident? I do with OEM parts all the time. I got that feeling with these H&R's, I could just tell. Maybe that's why all four ran me $238...but here's the results.

Lol nah, man, I don't remember what exactly I said to you about spacers.

But you're not gonna catch anything but compliments from me. The car looks great!

Enjoy

Check out the Enkei YX5, BTW.

Eerie resemblance to the Type S wheel. Not sure if they're available in an agressive enough offset to do what those spacers are doing, however.

You're running a 17x8+30 fitment right now.

They have a bunch of 18x8's, then go to 20x8.5....well isn't that a big bag of wtf.

These have caught me eye, and I don't see any issues with fitting...

I just received my 20mm H&Rs
just ordered new lower ball joints from acuraoemparts and have new compliance bushings, plus newer OEM axles to account for the spacers.

You went quality so I wouldn't worry.

I thought we were CB64.1? How would twoul3.1 fit on the 5x114.3?

I would ensure you can get those spacer bolts off without stripping sooner than later just to make sure. I personaly go 90'lbs myself.

Yea I do worry a tad about the spacers. Just this weekend I decided to check all 4, They say to do that after 100 miles or so just to be sure. It's been about 300 when I did check them this weekend. All 4 were still at 90 lbs. Like everyone else I have heard/read some horror stories with spacers, which is why I went with H&R, they seem to be one of if not the best out there. Didn't use any anti-seize on the threads, but did on the back of the spacers. This car NEVER sees snow so I don't ever see them getting stuck on due to salt etc...

92LB-FT is the max torque you can safely put on a M12 fastener with dry threads.

If you put grease of any kind on the threads, the max torque value would need to be reduced...maybe around 75LB-FT.

Don't use 90LB-FT on a greased M12. You'll damage it.

Grease on the hubs like you have it isn't a huge deal.

Only spacer I ever had an issue with was an Akata...a 20 on the back of the S2000 bent all the studs inward a little...
they also were the ones that made the 10MM version 2 bolt on that got some internet fame for failing...
I think they were a subsidiary of Vossen at the time...

Everything else...ichiba, project kics, H&R have been absolutely fine...
the nuts on the ichiba were soft...I remember having a hard time removing spacers from my CTS-V after a bit...

Other than that, congrats...looks proper now and I'm very jealous of your garage space.

Always nice getting the "seal of approval" from @BROlando @rockstar143 @GhostTL09, makes me confident for sure. Don't read that as sarcasm at all, I really do appreciate it you guys!

No rubbing at all....zero. I'd venture to say an inch and 1/2?

You're tucking, that ain't an inch and a half!
Just make sure the fronts are rolled upward a bit at least...you'll catch on a weird incline and pull the fender a bit, ask how I know.

I never really measured honestly. Here's the front wheel...

I guess maybe I should say I have never rubbed "yet?"

I actually think that is the stock Tein Flex Z height.

P.S. For Jeremy....those oem axles buddy. You most definetly called it. Still riding perfect.

After all these years, I would hope I learned a thing or two.
Glad to hear it, my friend.

I've been looking at some 18x8.5 +35 wheels, which are very close to your 17x8 +30 setup. I'm on Tein S.Tech springs, which might not be as low as you, but I'm still concerned about rubbing. I would like to avoid rolling my fenders with 245/40 or 235/40 tires, but we'll see.

Your setup looks good. 👍

Well thank you sir! Like I said I have never heard/felt a single rub yet (been like this ride wise for close to 18 months.) I'd like to get away from the 15mm spacers, but at least "I" think I'm using the best ones out there in H&R. I just can't seem to find a wheel I love in a 18 x 8.5. (and I can't do 19's sorry, just not into it) hhmm maybe I'll pull the trigger on those wheels I posted above. I'm also on stock tire size. Would LOVE to go wider though, but not sure what I could get away with

According to a Superspeed rep, the RF06RR 18x9.5 +22 is the only wheel that will clear the TL brembos. I thought their wheels were designed to clear big brakes.

Are the TL Brembos physically much larger than other brembos? 🤷‍♂️
