VOLK ZE40 17x9 ET40??

I have an 07 TL Type S. I'm looking into some wheel fitments. I want to stay with the 17s but i want to go 17x9. stock TLs wheels are 17x8 ET+55.
So I want a 17x9 wheel with ET+40 .Their is also 17x8.5 with ET+45 ,Really want 17x9 wheels though.Question is ,can it be done with the Brembos that the TLs has? Does anyone else have a 17x9 wheel that they can share a pic for me.? Any information would be greatly appreciated Thank you.

No idea on fitment issues, but stock wheels are 17X8 +45 offset.

Those volks should easily clear your brembos.

17x9 +40 will move the wheel face about 0.5" toward the fender (as compared to stock 17x8 +45).

I highly doubt this will clear the brembos. The oem only fits due to the very flat and shallow wheel face design. It is not easy to find wheels that give a good stance and clear brembos

also not sure why you want to stay 17s, the 18s look way better and I'd say 95% of people that get new wheels do not go 17s

17's definitely look a little small on TL's.

The wheels are supposed to be BBK friendly, IIRC.

I like 17s so i still have some rubber for comfort. So i also found these wheels that im starting to like Gram Lights 57CR
17x9 with an offset of +38. with these would i be flush or close to flush. my fenders are rolled by the way.

This is the space im currently dealing with right now. Its about an 1" clearance from the sidewall of my tire to the inside of the fender.

OK so i'm putting my full attention to the Gram Lights 57DR wheels in 17X9, but im not sure the offset i should get. They are available in +12,+22,+38. I do not want my wheels to come out past the fenders. Does anyone have any information or pics of what it would look like. thanks

diameter of wheel has nothing to do with the amount of rubber you have for comfort. it depends on tire width and tire height ratio. but if you want 17s all good, i won't push 18s any more haha

for reference i have 18x9 +32 and i am pretty flush with the fender. that should be your point of reference. you will be past the fender with +22 but with how low you are and the natural negative camber from that, you will look flush at the top (bottom will stick out a bit).

+38 will be slightly sunken and i'm pretty sure won't clear the brembos.

and this is the challenge with brembos...finding a flush stance and yet still clearing brembos. i spent 3 months researching each time i switched wheels. it will take some time if you want it perfect

thanks for your info. I see everyones pics with 18s and 19s, but idk i just like the size of 17s im not a big wheel kinda guy. I leaning towards the +38 offset with the 17X9 But i would feel more comfortable if i could see them on a car with the same wheel specs to see if they fit.
It is challenging to find the info. but i atleast found the wheel i want. now if i could only find someone with 17x9 and what offset they are running would be great.

Oh you know better than this, it absolutely has to do with the amount of rubber you have for comfort, if you want to keep the stock OD of 25.4" (which most people do). Not only does less sidewall mean a harsher ride, as sidewalls get smaller they get necessarily harder, making the ride even worse.
