Volk GT-C...any opinions???

Hey guys,

I bought my car in athracite grey about a month ago and have been searching for rims left and right. First I was thinking of SSR GT3...but I think now I am deciding with Volk Racing GT-C (18x8, 50mm offset). Let me know if you guys think it will look good at all...and fitment (from what I have searched on there..it will fit fine with the offset). Also...I can decided if I want just regular silver colored rim...or a black gunmetal colored. Any opinions or suggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks.

18x7.5, 18x8.5, 18x9.5

what could be just te37...but some dealer said it goes up by halfs...

I'm pretty sure that the half size thing is not true. Perhaps it may be only on the TE37's. I have checked the GT-C, GT-P, Winning, and they have whole number sizes. The only thing is some rims have a much lower offset.

yes they do make 18x8s with a 50 offset...rays calls it the MID TYPE (it's in japanese but i think it refers to the disk and caliper clearance). gunmetal is cool if it works with your car color...otherwise, stick with silver since it will be easier to sell, if and when you want too.

Thanks for the posts guys. I will probably make the purchase in the next two weeks. I will post pics after. I'm thinking blk rims with an anthracite grey color car should be cool. The only thing I'm afraid of is that it might look a little "racey". I dont know..its just my opionion...I still want my TLS to be kind of "classy" looking since its a sedan.

ValueTL...thanks for the update on the size. I think I will stick with 18's" though just because it fits the car better (I dont want to cut the tabs and roll the fenders if I dont have to). Plus the 18's also fit my wallet a little better too...hehe.

I will be receiving my Silver GT-C 18x7.5 +44 tomorrow and should have tire mounted and on the car by wednesday or thursday. I'll let you know how they look. As for the 19's what I hear is it is confirmed they are making it but a release date is unknown. Through Mackin Industries.

503TL-S: Congrat's on the new rims. Definitely post some pics please...would love to see how they look on the TL's before I comitte. I'm getting it in gunmetal color. I went to a shop today to see it...and it really grabbed my attention.

ValueTL: Sorry to bother you with this...but when I went to the shop today..thats exactly what the counter guy told me...that 18x7.5 would be a better fit. Could you tell me why? Rubbing problems? Even with a 50mm offset? Or is it other reasons why 18x8's would not fit as well. Please let me know. I have a brand new car...and I'm dishing out another 2k+ for new rims...I dont want to have any problems at all. Thanks alot.

I have 18x8 with 225/40/18 tires, and they rubbed when I have 4 passengers or more. The offset is 48 which is the minimum for 18x8. I guess it's the tires, but I dunno, just a thought anywayz.

BostonTL

Did you cut the tabs under your fender at all? Also I was wondering if you might have any pics at all...would love to see what it looks like. Anyways...thanks for sharing the info on the previous post.

Another thing...what size tire do you guys recommend? 235's? or 245's? Any opinion is much appreciated. Thanks.

Nope, didn't do anything at all. The guy I bought the rims from, AC, used comptech springs with the wheels, and he had the same problem (rubbing with full passengers). Unfortunately I never took a pic when I had them on ,maybe later when I get my replacement wheel from Mike I'd take some pics. You can view I'd go with 235 for the tires, coz I don't like the bubble look from a wide tire.

P.S: I forgot to mention that I only rubbed in the rear.

I mounted Parada Spec 2s 225/40/18 and put the rims on looks pretty good. need to drop the car a little more all around. I'm pretty happy with it. Because of the design of the rim it looks a little small but the rims are damn nice. 18x7.5 and i was able to get the +50 offset. They fit really good! I'll have pics after the weekend hopefully. Some of us from this forum are meeting in Beaverton, OR. so hopefully some one has a digital camera.

Thanks 503TL-S. The car looks great...I really like the rims. What kind of rims did you use for your drop? H&R Sport?

Stan

It definitely does. ADR seem to always have to copy rims from other manufacturers. I've seen so many rims they have copied...and obvious too. I guess there's no such thing as "copyright" and intellectual property in the rims market. Still...even if I do get the Volk...I'd be happy to see that my center cap says "VOLK"..not ADR.

you probably won't be getting the sunken faces because you need (a fairly wide rim? with) a lower offset for that to happen.

I have Apexi WS coilovers, Azndrgnkid. I'm probably going to bring it down more but haven't decided yet.

As for the ADR Rims, well those knock-off companies have been producing look alikes for years on years. Almost all of the great brands and popular styles have knockoffs. But usually when you put the original and the knockoff next to each other almost anyone can tell the difference.

it looks as though the most narrow GT-C rim for the 19's is 8.5 inches...a little wide, don't you think?

i think you'll get a lip with the face 1 and that's all. i checked again, and it seems the face 2s come in 18x8s with a 44 offset (low disk type)...but needs to be closer to 50 offset.

really need to know the exact offsert (or the face type so you can look up the possible fitments) before you can determine if they fit or not. 245 is kinda wide and though the rim width is doable, the offset will have to be sufficiently higher to offset the added width.

finally ordered

Well...I did it. I ordered the GT-C's in anthracite grey. It doesnt come with the center piece I dont think...so I will have to order that separate...but I believe I'm going with type 1 (flat face). It should be in by Monday or Tuesday...I will post picture in a few days and let you guys post of opinions. 18x7.5 with Nitto 235 tires is what I ordered. I would have gone with a 18x8...but the guy helping me said 7.5 would be a better fit....so I just went with it.
