hey guys im lookin at the varrstoen wheels es2 and I wanna get some reviews before I buy. im just lookin to spice up my daily driver, im lowered on flex z and have rear camber kit, im gonna roll my fenders all around. im not lookin for any crazy camber or anything. I just wanna make my Dailey turn into a head turner lol. if anyone have any experience with them please comment ur review! that would be greatly appreciated
not sure what you're looking for, but i'll play along.
the ES2 is a replica of a popular wheel design. varrstoen is a reputable mass market aftermarket wheel company which provides wheels on the cheap.
not too sure what else you are looking for, as wheels are round and they help your car move forward and backwards.
i just wanna make sure the company is a good one and i just don't wanna go thru the whole process and the wheel get bent easily or anything of that such. as in northern nj that roads aren't the best but some people have said they like them and they are perfect for them
and for tires i wanna make sure im not makin a bad decision im gonna go with the 225. im just tryin to get as much knowledge as i can before i buy!!
I've had my Mk2's for almost 18 months - bought them straight from Varrstoen and were shipped and packaged well. Like Justnspace said, Varrstoen is solid wheel manufacturer especially for Rep wheels. With that said, the TL is my daily driver and have driven well over 20k miles on them without issues -

I prefer having meaty tires, based on my drop at the time, I couldn't really go bigger than 245/40 without more fender work and I wasn't really trying to get more body work done so the 245's i went with were fine, plenty of rubber, and I like having the safety net of bigger sidewall. They have been doing a lot of road construction in Jacksonville and one night i hit a freaking metal road cover that sat maybe 2 or 3 inches above the road surface - saw it too late (managed to slow down from 80 to 50 before impact) and bam - however, the tires held up and the wheels survived without any bends, cracks...etc.

put the wheels on and test fit...
then according to what you see
-raise car
- add camber
- roll fenders
Agreed with Justnspace - Weezy - some of this is going to have to come from getting your hands on and getting some experimentation happening - i went from a conservatice 18x8.75 on 235/40 set up to wider 18x10 on 245/40 set up, had to test fit, had to roll, had to test fit again roll again etc...no matter how much advice you get, sometimes the rubber needs to meet the road homie
^it did not make sense to me, until i started fucking with my wheels and tires.
words and pictures didnt come alive until I put the car on the ground and saw what exactly was going on with my fitment problems.
Each problem will be unique specifically to your car, because we all have different specs of tires, wheels and height.
the general problems are;
- tire rubbing
- tire cutting
- wheel not clearing BBK caliper.
since there are four sides (4 wheels) each side will possibly have it's own issue.
the way to handle these issues are, BUT NOT limited to one...
-raise the car (if needed)
- add camber (if needed)
- add spacers (if needed)
- Cut fender tab (if needed)
or any combination of those..
but of course, since your specs are unique to you...YOU may run into some other problem. you wont know until you actually try

I understand now, i actually just ordered the es 2 hyper black, 18x9.5 +22 now im gonna get the fenders rolled and front tab removed then get an alignment after their on with my spc rear camber kit
if anything maybe raise it but im 24.5 from ground to fender
now what tires do i get, mostly gonna be 3 season wheel not winter
tires are also personal preference.
I like to dictate my rubber by the season, because I like race cars. therefore i choose an aggressive summer compound.

I think the car already has about -2 to -2.5 deg of natural camber. At least that's what my latest alignment spec sheet had on it.
You can read around about the camber kits, but chances are you probably don't need one. A 9.5" wheel is fairly wide for this car though. Chances are you will need to roll your fenders.
For tires, I got Continental Control Contact Sport A/S from Discount Tire. Admittedly, I did not realize they were A/S tires at the time, but they are very quiet. Now, if my wheels weren't junk, I'd be able to give a better review, but they seems to do everything fairly well. Only thing I am not happy about is my wheels, but that's my fault. Definitely spend the extra money on getting good tires though.

i picked up some Nitto Invo's recently...265/40/18s
this is the way I enjoy my car. fat race car tires that grab traction

Yeah im havin my fenders shaved down by a professional shop in my area next week and hopefully my rims come mid next week and then just gotta get tires put on and alignment and ill

hey guys just here updating you, i got the es 2 hyper black finally!!! 18x9.5 +22 wheels look amazing! I went with continental extreme contact sport, tires look amaZing and reviews and my tire guy recommended them over bridgestone and michellin, price and not much difference. Also got hyper black lug nuts and oem tire sensors.
paired with flex z coils, havin spc rear camber kit installed along with all 4 fender roll and height adjustment for fitment to be down this saturday i cannot wait! I will post pics
Wheels look nice! Normally not a huge fan of that style but the finish and everything looks pretty good! Can't wait to see them on the car.
Also wanna see the fitment on that. Thinking of running a 9.5 +35 but on 265's and overall a similar setup in the future. I'm even looking at the same tires, definitely wanna know how you like everything
Took me a second, thought the wheels were all screwed or like something major was off but realized there are waffles behind them but I agree with visualechos, put em on already!
before installing your flex z coils, set your front preload to 15mm (spring length of 185) and your rear preload to 8mm (spring length of 242mm). tein tells you 2mm in front and 1mm in rear...way too little.

you can adjust to those spring lengths once they are on the car (that's what i did). i don't know about you, but everyone i know that has the flex say they are too floaty at tein settings. i changed my settings and it was a night and day difference, rides like a dream now (wasn't bad before just not ideal).
it doesnt matter what we think.....but with that being said...
you'll figure out where you want your car, personally. so, you will constantly adjust height, if you want to add camber, etc. it takes time
you'll eventually look back at it when parked and be like..., HMmmmmm i could do it this way, or it would look better that way
Yeah so as i go low i get more negative camber? The guy who did the install says i need a front cAmber kit to go more low, i think the front cAn go a lil lower.
as for the rear it looks pretty good, gonna tell the alignmen guy to go -1.8 in the rear which i think is good, what u think?
So i got an alignment today and now my rear tires r rubbing!!
i got the alignment at firestone so i dont think they new what go do stance wise, im gonna upload my alignment and lmk what u think i should do
im gettin it realigned at my permorfance shop that did the install. Ill show them the spec sheet and go from their
makes me feel a little more comfortable at getting my 17x9 wheels, just not sure of the offset. +38 or +22 i dont want my wheels to stick out past my fenders.
Yeah im bringin it back tomorrow for wheel alignment, i have camber kit so ima jus add some more camber, -2.2 or 2.0 i really don't wanna go higher cambee then that and ruin my brand new tires
