Update on Bridgestone Serenity's

Hey guys,

I purchased these tires back in June and at first I thought they were good tires still are but noticed a whining howling sound. It sounds more like when you blow air across an open empty bottle. The sound goes away comes back and at higher speeds sometimes they get really loud as far as the howling sound but overall rides good. I am in a process of trying to get these tires swapped out for another brand or something. If anyone cannot stand this howling sound do not buy these tires.

I had them on my G35 and never had that problem. Not sure what to say about them on the TL. Are you sure its not another problem maybe like something loose or hanging down? Just asking

No nothing hanging down or no compliance bushing issue. I had it checked out when I was getting the B1, 2 service at the dealer. I bought the tires from tiresplus few months back all the alignment and balancing is in check no issues with that. TSB's are up to date. One thing I have found out is that TL's as well as the Accord's are pretty sensative to certain type and brand tires. My previous vehicle which was an 06 Accord EX-L 4cyl 5 AT came with the Michelin MXV 4's S8 V rated tires and those tires had lasted me to 68k until I bought some Kumho's Ecsta Platinum, then swapped them for the Good Year Eagle GT, then Cooper CS4's, and then finally after 2 months decided to go with Michelin Primacy's MXV4's and had no problems with noise or vibration.. I am hoping to get into the Michelin MXM4's Primacy's....

Glad you started this thread because the MXM4 is the tire I am gravitating toward. So the Kumhos didn't stay on long or the Coopers? Cooper has a good promotion going on right now but I am skeptical. They have a new tire out that is getting really good reviews especially with Mustang owners. I still think you may be on to something regarding the Michelins

Over the years I've seen the same tire, but on different vehicles be responsible for a difference in sound, even if all suspension/specs are in order.
Just had this situation with the Michelin Exalto, 225/55-16 on the daughter's Maxima and 215/60-16 on the '08 knock around car. Her's have been fine for over 60,000 miles, but after a period of time on the '08, it sounded as though a wheel bearing was going bad, which it wasn't. After close inspection each tire seemed to have the 2nd from the outside tread wearing, but differently on each tire, similar to the old Gatorbacks. Spoke to Michelin and as the tires stil had 5-6/32" tread remaining they agreed to a 50/50 deal on the MXV4 H rated. Just an FYI, no sounds with the Kumho OE tire, or the replacement Continental I use in the winter.

I was interested in the MXM4 Primacy as well as Costco has good prices and $70 off starting 9/15. I ended up ordering the Cooper RS3-A as the price was great and they currently have a $75.00 rebate. Consumer Reports rated them tops in the October issue as well. I'm having them mounted tomorrow so we'll see how they are.

I would be curious how you like the RS3-A's.

My wife got them mounted today and I just took it for a spin. Compared to the Bridgestone 760 Sports that I had:

The Cooper runs much smoother, which I was certainly hoping for, as compared to the Bridgestones where I felt every bump.

The Brigestones handled better, which is of course the trade off for a better ride. These handle excellent, just seems not as instant as the Bridgestones.

I got about 25,000 miles out of the Bridgestones, which have a 340AA rating. As the Cooper are 500AAA rated and have a 45,000 mile warranty, I expect to get much more with this set.

Price was certainly right at $104 each plus freight for the 245/45/17 less a $75 rebate. I got them from treadepot.com.

I like to buy American whenever possible and from a previous review that I saw I thought these were. However, these have that all too familiar "made in China" stamped on the side. Bummer.

Time will tell how good these end up being, but I've got high expectations.
