Turanza, Falken, Pirelli, now what?
I have a 04 TL with the stock rims. I've been through the original Turanza's, replaced them with Falken 512's, and then the Pirelli Nero's. Most I've gotten is 15,00 miles and have been disappointed with the road noise. The Falkens were the best but still don't think much of them. What makes the most sense for a quiet durable 3 season tire just to cruise down the interstate? Also, the tire dealer says it really needs an alignment, any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help.

I have the Michelin Pilots on my TL and have 30,200 miles on them and still have plenty of tread. I've seen bad reviews of them on here but I am pleased and will replace them with the same. I expect to get about 34-35,000 miles on them.

15k miles on tires and you need to replace them already? Sounds like something is wrong with your suspension system. Are your tires wearing down unevenly? If so then you should get that alignment to see if it will fix the issue. I have the stock michelin pilots and I'm at 24k miles and its riding fine. You should really get the tire issue checked out though, I would hate to spend $$$ on tires every 15k miles especially if it is on stock rims w/o aftermarket suspension (assuming so since you did not mention it )

Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position
I don't own them, but Tirerack.com has an excellent write up and accessment of these on their site. Owners are posting very high marks too. Seems that the Pirelli's now have a run for their money.

Continental ExtremeContact
I put a set of the Continental ExtremeContacts on last fall when Tire Rack was running a special on them.
I can't comment on wear, but I can say that they are one heck of a lot better than the EL42 "Turdranzas". Better traction, better ride, and a whole lot quieter running.
I did have the rear suspension toe in adjusted to the revised 0 deg setting Acura is publishing now as part of the Service Bulletin.
It isn't just Acura having problems with the EL42. A co-worker just had their BMW 3er in to have the EL42 tires replaced as part of a recall BMW is running. But, like Acura, the tires were replaced with "reformulated" EL42's.
After my experience with them, they couldn't give EL42's again even if they paid ME to take them.

The 960 is the answer to the poor performing Turanza EL-42 according to my local Bridgstone dealer.

The TireRack site has an excellent user survey for various tires rated for everything from tread wear and traction to noise and comfort. I recently bought four Potenza Pole Position tires for the Acura TL and they are way quieter and more comfortable than the Turanzas that came on the car. However, two of these tires had excessive radial run-out causing a vibration that will not balance out and it has been like pulling teeth to get Firestone to pro-rate them out for me.
