Tricks to get a tire/alignment shop to align the car the way you want it? ...

I have a lifetime alignment with firestone in canal winchester ohio and have had nothing but issues with their service. Reason I have to go to this store is it is one of like three in the columbus area that have a flat rack and i'm pretty low. I put my new wheels on last week and had messed with the rear camber a little and got it to what I would guess was around -4 with plenty of gap to put my fingers in, well I get it back and can barely fit my finger in it. I explained to them I wanted to run neg. camber and about the wide wheels and such, and still they change it back to probably -2 camber. Is there a better way to explain this stuff to these guys or should I tip them before hand or what?

i just went to firestone last weekend to get them to adjust my front and rear camber/toe.

JUST TELL THEM WHAT YOU WANT. if you want -4 camber, tell them.

"hey firestone guy, i have these aggressive wheels and my car is lowered. i've installed a camber kit and i need your tech to adjust it to -4 ok? that way i won't rub my tires and yada yada."

i hung out with my tech the entire time and we just bullshitted about cars while he did his thing. got the rear at -4 and the front at -3.5 with TOE at ZERO all the way around.

try and get a tech that knows/likes cars like ours...it goes a long way.

Get on a first name basis and talk talk talk. But it's lifetime so don't even take it from them if you don't like the results...

ya I may try another location because theres no real "car guys" at this location. I always check the parking lot before I go in and nothing special ever out there. I told the guy last time I went in that I would like the camber around what it was at when I brought it in and he either didnt hear me or just ignored me. A lot of these guys just think camber is the tire killer and its pretty bad that I know its not and im not even an alignment specialist...

Firestone, no more need be said. Lol

I'd just do what shark did and see if you can go back there to "babysit" your car while they do their thing.

Also, don't let some highschooler touch your car. A lot of places like that will employ people who barely know what their doing. That's my experience in this area at least.

Not sure what I would do if I didn't have a hookup at Honda...

If they wont set it to the specs you want, then go somewhere else.

Tire shop I went to I told the tech were I wanted front/rear specs at and he let me stay with the car until he finished.

I will do business with him from now on and he got an extra tip that day from me. In and out in 45min.

this.

just be nice, friendly, and make it a point that YOU want what YOU want. it's your car afterall.

here is me and the tech (travis) this past weekend. just wear their stupid safety glasses and you're good to go.

Fixed.

Seriously though, if you told them to set it at -4 and they set it at -2 that's pretty annoying. Make sure they give you a before/after spec sheet so you can make sure they have it right before you leave. Most of the people that do alignments around here are old rednecks, so I don't try to be their best friend, I just tell them what I need done and they do it.

why does getting an aggressive setup have to be this hard? I really though it would be a matter of ordering the right size, rolling my fenders with a slight pull, and putting the wheels on and getting aligned. little did I know this would be a four weekend project and still working on that perfect height and camber look

i have the lifetime alignment from firestone also... i just got new tires from the dealer and they threw in an alignment.

was thinking about taking it to firestone having them print out how it is, and have firestone set it to that if its ever out....

good or bad idea?

You have to do work man. Just got my Works and I had to drive over an hr to a shop that can do the balancing correctly.
