Tread life with staggered setups

Just curious to see how many miles you guys are getting with staggered fitments and directional tires (i.e. no rotations). My car is not my main driver to work and in the rain, snow etc. I am not looking to go too aggressive just a 1/2" wider in the rear than in the front. Should I do it or just get all the same size so I can rotate and not have to buy stock in tire companies

BTW, I know that it all varies on proper alignment, roads, driving styles, and various other conditions. Just wanted an idea of what I can expect. Thanks to all that can put their on it.

You can get pretty normal life out of them if at rotation time you have them break the tires off of the rim and flip them around. I do this since I run very soft tires and it really maximizes the life.

Little confused IHC, wouldnt that mean that you are putting the directional tires on backward? Sorry for not understanding, I guess I would have to see it to know what you are talking about.

If the right side directional tire is let's say worn on the inside, switch it to the opposite side and the wear will be on the outside and correct direction. Just having a staggered setup will not wear out tires unevenly as that is the alignment, but if heavy on the throttle, the fronts (FWD) will wear out quickly. Reverse is true in RWD. One of our cars RWD, has a staggered, directional setup (215/55 & 235/50), 35K miles on the front tires, but have had 3 sets on the rear in that time, but no uneven wear.

If you just swapped tires from left to right, they would be going in the wrong direction. But if you unmount the tires flip them around on the rims and rotate, they will be going in the right direction and the inside will now be the outside.
