TPMS won't fit into my 18" rims :(

I just purchased a set of 18" wheels and a set of brand new OEM TPMS from Acura.

The hole on the rim is too small for the valve stem thread to go thru.... so i cannot put the top nut on to secure the TPMS in place.

what can i do with the TPMS now?? Please help

iForged makes TPMS adapter brackets.... did your new wheels come with their own valve stems? these adapters just hook over them... I am using them on my 2pc wheels

be SURE to use loc-tite on them, as they have the chance of falling off and bouncing around in the wheel until they break

Or, you could widen the hole....

Iforged adapters are iffy... I'd widen the hole and call it a day, wouldn't hurt there at all, get a big enough drill bit in and out couple times should do the trick

If it's a 1-piece rim, the TPMS should fit no problem. Maybe you have some generic rims?

As mentioned above, the iForged TPMS Adapters work well for 2-piece rims.

Using a drill to widen the valve stem hole could "screw", as it only takes 1-2 spins to make the hole too wide. What'll you do then?

I don't know, Al. If the drilled hole is too big, then I think he'd be out of luck.

BTW, I've NEVER heard of the valve stem hole being too small!?

I thought the size was universal.

run without the TPMS. if you check your tire daily there is no reason to be dependent on them.

i ran w/o TPMS for almost a year with no problems until i needed to swap tires, then i mounted the factory TPMS on my current wheels.

I have been running without the TPMS in my summer wheels for 2 years now .. no need to check every day .. If you need to then you have tire issues .. I check mine monthly and there is never a pressure change.

look how to secure the TPMS sensor on ronjonwheels.com, you can buy the strip they used from home depot or lowes usually.

There is .. its about the size of a grain of rice and not noticable. You also get an audible which only comes on once a driving session and you just cancel it.

That would annoy da heck out of me. you gotta push "ok" in the nav , then if you don't put you seat belt on , now cancelling the tpms light.... imo thats way way too much everytime when I get in the car.

I widen the hole just test drill on piece of metal 1st no biggie.

Holy crap .. pushing the button once a trip is annoying? If thats annoying .. the rest of life is going to be a bitch. The light doesn't come on immediatly but anywhere up to a few miles before it triggers.

I never have the seat belt problem .. old car racer .. and not invincible .. so I use it.
