TPMS going bonkers

Hi folks,

With the cold weather approaching, the driver front TPMS has been going bonkers. For example, during a cold start it will show that the pressure for only that tire is 186. Gradually it will rise.

So my question is why is it only that particular tire? Is it because the sensor is defective or is there something wrong with the tire? The tire does not look like there are any issues and there are no leaks or anything. I've inflated the tire so that the pressure is around 250 is that too much?

Thanks

You inflated unti the sensor read 250 psi or your tire guage read 250 psi??????

When in doubt use a tire guage and put in recommended psi in your tires and don't rely on an electronic guage. They fail.

Sounds like you are experiencing a bad tpms. That is known to happen as they have batteries inside each unit.

Check tire pressure once a month and you are fine.

I inflated the tire to the appropriate amount where the TPMS indicator disappeared. But afterwards the electronic gauge just kept climbing once the tire was in motion. Basically when the tire is warmed up, the pressure settles around 250 psi...

Use a tire gauge and set the tire pressure cold to the recommended amount. Air contracts when it gets cold and thus goes below the TPMS threshold. As you drive the flexing of the tire warms the air and expands it.

Yes but that shouldn't cause funky readings.

The tpms should still be able to read less than 30 and up to 50. I do not know what the specific parameters are. But when I swap rims to my stocks it takes a mile or so of driving to register. It reads real high until it does.

They have diagnostic tools that will tell you if the sensor is bad without taking the rim off the car.
Check discount tire or your local honda/acura service dept. They should be able to check it out.

I think he is up here in CanaDUH where the readings are in Kph .. not funky at all.

250 = 36 psi 186 = 26 psi ..
