TPMS for 04' TL

Not sure if anyone has asked this before, but is it possible to implement the 06' TL TPMS feature onto a 04' TL? Has anyone done this?

i asked my service advisor about that idea and he said that they would have to replace the gauge cluster with the MID with an 06' one and put in the sensors in the wheels

Please be aware that the 2006 TPMS systems will only provide pressure and low pressure warnings. No temperature readings are provided on the MID display.

The other choice is to go with aftermarket systems which will be less expensive and give you more flexibility in setting the low pressure warning, deviation pressure warning and temperature warning.

I just complete the installation of such a device on my 2005 TL. The system is made by Smartire and I added the optional full function remote display which provides all the otions above. It work really well and the only installation pain is having to unmount the tires to mount the pressure transducers, re mount the tires and have them balanced.

I also purchase a full extra set of sensors which are installed on my winter wheels.

Check them out at http://www.smartire.com/products/passenger/index.html

and this site is where I bought it from

If you want factory TPMS, I think it would be easier just to buy a new car. There is also an RF receiver for each wheel in addition to the stuff csmeance posted.

i think you need a receiver in each wheel well to receive the signal from the TPMS sensors in the wheels.

That's exactly what I've been trying to tell all those on here who want to go through the insanity of tearing the dash apart to convert non-Nav to Nav.
