Torin Jack

Are Torin jacks any good?
How high should the floor jack have to reach to be able to lift the back of the TL up to put jack stands and change the wheels?

Get a Norco jack. I have had mine for approx. 5-6 years now. Works great and is a super low profile to fit under the lowest cars. I could fit it under my slammed (wheels tucking) EG hatch with no problems.

Would those two be low enough to clear the front?

Is the front jack point pass the air dam?

Yeah the front jack point is kinda back there. But my jack still fits with no problems. Don't skimp on the jack. Spend the money and get something with quality and you will have it forever. Another thing you should pick up some jackstands too. I am sure you know this already but you should never work under the car with just a jack supporting it.

That Torin looks pretty good and comes with everything for a pretty good price. I would buy that over a Craftsman.

Also look into the Norco Industries 71230A floor jack. I dunno what they sell for now but definitely worth checking out. Also see if you can find either the Torin or Norco jack local. Thats how I got my norco and at the time they were one of the only companies that had low profile lifts.

So the Torin one is better. The Torin weights 120lbs compared to the Craftsman's 60lbs. Does the weight of the floor jack matter?

I'm just wondering if the Craftsman will able to clear the air dam. The Torin one is a better buy, but it weighs so much.

Well normally yes heavier is better especially in a jack. Also don't forget that the weight on the Torin includes everything else too.

Does the Torin one look like it will be able to hold the rear of the TL's tow hook?

The wife purchased the Craftsman model (with Jack stands) for me for Christmas. If you have not purchased yet, I will verify the clearance tonight on my A-Spec TL when I get home.

You have me worried now so I want to confirm!!

I got the Craftsman one. The sites that sell the torin one wanted an additional $60 shipping and handling charge.

99whitetl: I was considering that one also. I wasn't sure if 18-1/2" would be enough to lift the rear of the TL to get the rear wheels off the ground.
