took a curb pretty hard--risk of steering damage?
Hey folks,
So I was driving through an s-curve on my way to work this morning, and took a one of the curves a bit too fast. :-p next thing I know, I hear two loud bumps and my heart stopped. long story short I have two huge chunks out of my wheels as well as the tires (!) (working on getting those fixed) and my alignment is really messed up. but more than that, I wonder if there is any possibility I could have done permanent damage to the steering?
any tips/precautions/advice appreciated. thanks.

I'd be more worried about the CV joints half shafts and most importantly, the transaxle then I would about wheels, tires, and alignment.
This is probably the worse thing about a FWD car. Ignore the fact that they lack traction and are not as capable in both straight line performance and the twisties, and that their drive train parts are not as strong as those of a RWD car. The real problem is the potential damage that can be caused by doing something like you did.. hitting a curb or some similar obstruction, hard.
Good luck.. hope everything turns out Ok for you.
