Has anyone retrofitted the TMPS system into an 05 TL? I have the wheel sensors in the ASpec wheels, and would prefer to put them to good use, rather than merely serve as balancing weights.

 

As I have a '04, not familiar where the TPMS lights on the dash, but I would assume as the TPMS system is integrated into the TL when manufactured, I would believe that it would be very difficult to duplicate/install. A new dash cluster would be needed, along with a receiver unit and initiator unit, maybe $200. You can pick up a used speedometer/gauge cluster from a '06 for $200/$300, and then buy the above parts. The only problem is wiring and whether the '06 cluster differs from the '05 harness.

Save time and aggravation and sell the TPMS sensors and be done with the idea.

 

The TMPS annunciates via the computer display - toggle through the menu along with the trip computer, odo, etc. Might be a software update plus the receiver, but I do not foresee a new dash cluster.

 

I think it would entail more than a software update for the display, and the meter assemblies are different between 2005 and 2006, actually between every year.
