TL Type S Rims 18"

Hello fellow ziners,

I've been searching to find an answer but I wasn't really able to find any clear answer.

I was wondering if there are any 18" Rims with OEM type S style. I know there are A-spec rims in this size but I really like the type S style that I have and I always wished that it'd been better if it was 18".

I thought there would be some sort of replica version out there but I wasn't able to find that either. Are there anyone who either has seen or own type S style Rims in 18"?

I wish our stocks were 18x8.5...I can't find anything else to replace them with either.

You beat me to it! OP, I was in the same boat. I am a big fan of the Type S wheel but wished I could find that style of wheel in 18" size. I searched and searched and couldn't really find an aftermarket wheel until the Enkei M52. It's not exact but pretty damn close. I bought them in 18x8, +40 size and hyper black color. Here are a couple crappy cell phone pics.

^those arent type-s wheels.

we are looking for type-s look alikes in 18 inches.

you might want to check your eyes, as they dont look anything like the type-s wheels.

WedsSport tc005s as close as you can get to Type S wheels in a bigger size
so they were making this model before 2006 in Japan and Type S wheels came out a little after that...
interesting.

Those hyper black wheels do look good and the best copies i have seen but dont look very black. They look sort of bright, but then again the sun is shining on them. All these wheels color names are confusing to me. Cant hardly tell.. i dont really like black,, so if they are brightish,'then the name of the color is tricking me. I guess hyper means brighter? Like hyper silver? Seems weird... i would thunk hyper black means more black. Not lighter. Oh well.

Here is my big question.. why do some type-s waffles look pretty shiny and bright while just as many others look really dark? And its not always related to direct sunlight in the pictures... it makes it hard to know what i will get if I order them

this is because there are two colors.
Honda might have went to a different paint manufacture mid production.

All type-s wheels look the same. Some might look darker because of brembo brake dust!

Edit: Really, Justin? Never knew that.

I know that a few started threads on this subject and we've found out that it is actually two different colors.

Are u serious about 2 colors? I have plenty examples at home. And i know about brake dust and you are right, it does make them look really dark esoecially when the car hasnt been cleaned in a long time. But still, even the ones that i have seen that have dirty front rims, even the rear is still dark, and the dust on the front rims makes them look almost black. But i would like to know for sure if there are 2 colors. I'll get the ligbter ones if i knew they would ship those instead of the near black ones..

This is a different story though... the rim that just got delivered to me is a much darker gun metal than the ones i currently have on my car; and those wheels have been on my car since the dealership. My question is: did they make the type-s rims in two different colors, or is this rim just part of a "second batch that acura painted separately from the production line? Maybe the second batch got a better/deeper colored powder coating?

The rim I just received looks AMAZING. I wish all four of my rims were this color... but they aren't. I just want my wheels to match! 3 Dark Silver rims and 1 gun metal is... ghetto

Pix coming soon.

The rim without tires is the one I just got shipped to me. It looks much darker in person than it does in these photos. The contrast is very evident in person. You will be able to tell the difference at a glance when I upload higher quality photos.

I know I wouldn't be too happy if one of the wheels were a different shade, just like I'm not, and haven't been too happy for years with the WDP bumpers from the factory.
As there is only one part number 42700-SEP-A61, I would assume that when manufactured, the paint shade was different. Another great quality control problem from Acura.
found it

not really I think some people just choose to replaced their wheels with the reps
which look just like oem just a different shade

Please see below for photos of the original versus different shots of the replicas with different light levels. I should also note that the wheels were packaged well and were double-boxed.

The center caps don't even match on that second set. Weird Honda would do that.
