TL & TL-S OEM Suspension
Hi guys!
Semi-new member here. Just purchased my first Acura a month ago. Someone selling 2007 TL-S OEM Macpherson Strut (Coil-overs). Do you know if it will fit my 04 TL base? If so, what is the drop on those compared to my stock?
Thanks!
Steve

The terminology is wrong.
but yes, it will fit.
Here is the ad I found (it was easy to find as you just copy and pasted)
http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rc...017044110.html
just uninstall yours, and install these. Very simple.

The suspensions are completely different by part number...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2006 6MT:
51601-SEP-A16 SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY., R. FRONT.
51602-SEP-A16 SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY., L. FRONT.
(2) 52610-SEP-A14 SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY., REAR
It also uses softer upper strut bushings:
(8) 51631-SV7-004 RUBBER, FR. FORK MOUNTING
Swaybars:
Rear (20mm) 52300-SEP-A11 SPRING, RR. STABILIZER
Front (27.2 Hollow) 51300-SEP-A01 SPRING, FR. STABILIZER
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2007 TL-S 6MT:
51601-SEP-A19 SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY., R. FRONT
51602-SEP-A19 SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY., L. FRONT.
(2) 52610-SEP-A17 SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY., REAR.
Stiffer upper bushing:
(8) 51631-SEP-A01 RUBBER, FR. SHOCK ABSORBER MOUNTING
Swaybars:
Rear (20mm) 52300-SEP-A11 SPRING, RR. STABILIZER
Front (27.2 SOLID) 51300-SEP-A21 SPRING, FR. STABILIZER
__________________________________________________ _______________
As you can see by the part number differences, the ONLY part that's the same between the 2 is rear swaybar. The TL-S is reported to have a notably stiffer suspension than the 2006, and the part numbers seem to reflect that.

Nice price, but unless you NEED them I would try to find the Aspec suspension on the cheap instead. I dont think the gains or the lack or noticeable drop would be worth the time and money to buy and install. Just my

Thanks for the input guys. I'm mainly looking for a stiffer ride and maybe 1-1.5" drop. If i can accomplish that with the TL-S suspenssion then that'll be nice.

True, some gains would be there, and if he had an 07-08 base model(being the softest suspension of the 3G's) then I might say go for it, but for me this would be too much work for the gains. Price is great, but for myself I would prefer to pay a little more to get the most rather than paying a little less for "minimal" improvements. "Minimal" being subjective of course. But like i mentioned, if he is in NEED of a new setup then this would be a no brainer. Just something to think about, thats all. Its a great find, he just has to weigh the options.
And I dont think the S suspension has much of a drop...at least compared to my AT aspec, the MT type-s in my parking lot sits higher.

TL and TL-S ride height is pretty much the same...and you won't get an 1 1/2" drop from an A-Spec set up....but you'll get close to 1". A-Spec/Eibach/H&R springs and adjustable shocks (i.e KONI Sports) will get you there, with adjustable damping to boot!

I'd say go for it.
But first check which H&R springs. If they're race springs, pass because they'll blow the shocks sooner or later. If they're sport springs, then yes, imo, it's worth it.
Springs alone cost ~$230 new (shipped), plus the TL-S shock which is marginally stiffer.
Drop will be about 1.4" front and 1.3" rear if they are H&R sports. A-Spec drop is ~0.75" all around and will probably cost more (even used).

Hey, Just checked with the guy and they are H&R Sports so it'll be about 1.4" front and 1.3" rear as Bearcat94 said. That shouldn't blow the TL-S sport suspension right?

Not sure why you would do a TL-S shock with an aftermarket spring.
