TL Tires...

I'm sure this is going to open the floodgates but what is the best tire for the money for the TL? I recently moved to Texas so there is no snow so I can basically run a summer tire all year round. Thanks

i just got the nankang ns-1 235/40/17. they get no traction in the rain, and moderate on dry pavement. got all 4 installed for $340 on monday, so couldnt pass that deal up. i will, with no dought, go with another tire for my next set. i had michelin pilot sport avs before these and they were amazing on dry pavement, but had bad luck with the tread falling apart in chunks. i dont know what the deal was there....

I just move to TX recently as well. Been here for about 15 months now and I bought a set of yoko W4S's and I've been very happy with them. Traction is great wet/dry, road noise isn't to bad, although i've noticed its worse on some roads then others and i think thats due to the pavement. Treadwear is great too. Overall, great tire for the price!

I'm leaning towards GoodYear Eagle GT's for my next set. Been hearing alot of good things about them..

Pirelli Nero

Just had Pirelli Nero All-Season put on recently. Replaced Yoko AVS that came with the A-Spec. Yoko was ok. Good dry traction. However, it's very loud.
Needed something for all weather in OH (moved from CA). It's much quieter and so far handles great. It also had the best test review on Tirerack. Not too pricy. They also make summer version: Pzero Nero.

There is no better tire than the Nitto NT05. It's very close to a full R compound race tire but it lasts longer and is quieter. This was made as a street tire but for competitive auto-x and road racing. They're not bad in the rain either.

Here's what they look like on my car.

Honestly pohljm, you got it right with your first response. If snow isn't an issue, then the General Exclaim UHP is the best bang-for-the-buck tire.

If snow is a concern, I'd second Higdon's nomination for the Continental ExtremeContact DWS as the best bang-for-the-buck tire.
