Tires for RonJon INSPYRE 18x8.5 42 offset

I just purchased these wheels http://www.ronjonwheels.com/inspyre.html off ebay. They are bad!!!!!

Now I am looking for tires and I can not deside between the following:
235-40-18
245-40-18
255-35-18

What do you think? Would a 255-35-18 fit?

I am really looking at the 245-40-18's I just don't know what brand/type...........

Any Thoughts??????

It depends on how wide the wheels are and how much meat you want on your tires...I have 19x8.5 and am only running a 235/35 because I don't like the look of tire popping out beyond the face of the wheel, I think it hides the wheel a bit, and makes the wheel look a lit smaller.

That being said, the brand is up to you. I am a big fan of Falkens, and they make a good all season that might work for you in your part of the country. The Falkens are usually relatively inexpensive, but still have the performace and quality of tires that cost a ton more...in fact, the Falken Azenis Sport recently came in 2nd only to Pilot Sport 2s in a Tire Rack comparison

On a final note, just an editorial comment... I don't get the whole RonJon thing. At the meet I attended, there were probably about 20 or so people there, and none of us can figure out why these wheels are popular. They really don't look good (personal opinion of course), and they are way too expensive.

I put Michelin Pilot Sport on my A-Spec rims which are 18x8.5. The size tire I went with is the 255 40 18 and there is no tire lip past the rim. It is flush. Not sure what the offset is though.

I will look into the Falkens - I appriciate the advice. I also agree with vtech=happiness - I would not like it if the tires stick out over the sides of the rim......I will go with the 245-40-18's.

Well, an opinion is one thing, but a perfect width, offset, and centerbore are other reasons why we are so popular. We are exclusively designed and engineered for Acura vehicles. Besides the bolt pattern, there are other specs that make a wheel fit like OEM, perfectly. That is why a Lexus wheel will never fit an acura, even tho the bolt pattern is the same. Universal wheels are a big seller, but for the manufacturer's benefit, not the customer. Besides, the design is liked by the majority, or else we wouldn't be in business. I have learned that pleasing everyone is impossible, so i just do what I like and hope there are others who share my taste.

I would say 245/40/18 would be good on the 8.5 rim. I have a 19x8 rim and I have the 245/40/19 on my car. Here is a pic so you can see how it looks and of course I just love posting pics of my car.

Nice pics I like the Lip- appriciate the feedback!

It almost looks like I could go to a 255-35-18. The tire with a 245 still looks like its streatched to fit the 8.5 rim..

Rondog - I trust your appinion as well, and I love the style of the RonJon wheels. What would you recommend for a tire size for the 18x8.5 42 offset rim for the 04TL with brembos??

I found a few tires that I like and I will probably go with one of these three
#1 Falken FK-451
#2 Nitto NT - 555
#3 Toyo Proxes 4

Honestly, a 245/40/18 would end up being good for what you want, a 255 would make the wheel look so small with all that extra meat. I mean the 2004 Tl came with 235/40/18 on an 18" x 8.5" wheel and it looked killer. I think a 255 on an 8.5" wide wheel would end up looking like a 245 on a 8" wide wheel, like in Donte99TL's pics above. by then you would def be throwing off the speedo tho. post pics either way when your done. Oh yeah, heres a 245/40/18 on the Inspyres, I almost forgot!

Thanks Rondog! I appriciate your loyalty to the acura family and bringing these wheels to life. I was really strugling looking for a perfect match for my silver TL. I was even looking at the "Konig Troubles......." Rims are really an extention of the vehicle owner. I feel that these fit my personality and my aggresive driving style.

I wish you great success!
