Tires Rip Off by Acura of Brooklyn or Not???

Ok so I went to Acura of Brooklyn and they decided that I need to replace two tires. Why because after only have put 10k on them one was almost without any tread and the other had side damage. They goodwilled me one tire paying for it and I payed for the other (Turanza EL42, chared 185.00, So so far so good). They they said the only way they will do this is if I get an allignment and balancing with them and chared me $139 for this. Plus $50 labor cost. The total after everything came out to be $407 bucks. Did I get ripped off? At first they wanted like $440 or something so I said forget it and told them I am calling Acura to make a complaint but then decided not to do that and called them back and said just get it done. When I got there they slashed the price by $40 bucks. So anyone have any thoughts. I feel like I should still call acura and tell them what happened. Or is this reasonable pricing?

the el42 suck as you might know. You did get ripped off on the tires because a tire that has no tread left after 10k costing 185 is just junk.

Ouch! $400 for two Flintstone Turanzas. Who owns that dealership the Corleone family?

There is a TSB on the tire wear and they should have replaced all 4 tires under warranty so you definitely got ripped off. I would compain to Acura, get my money back from the dealer and make 'eh replace remaining tires in addition to other things that need to be changed/replaced according to the TSB. Honestly, it's no surprise to me that they ripped you off like that, everybody knows their service sucks and you should avoid them in the future. I learned my lesson dealing with them and I would never go there again. Good luck!

thanks for all the info. I will try to contact Acura. I am not sure if I had waranty on the tire. Is that automatic or you have to add it separately?

As far as dealerships in NY area. Acura of BK sux, I already knew that, but its 5 min away from home. The dealership in queens is just as bad, well not sure about their service dept. No loaners at least and bad hours. The best experiance I had was in Acura of Wayne but its NJ and far.

We will see what happens.

I went to acura of brooklyn one time in order to get that pinging buzzing noise fixed, and they were complete assholes and did not fix anything...I wouldnt trust them with anything on my car! The people that run that place are all incompetent and ignorant and quite frankly annoying...

A of Bklyn SUCKS

Went there once for my first oil change. Was convenient since I live about 5 mins away. After filling out all the paper work, I step outside of the service advisors office just in time to witness another car rear end my 3 month old 05 TL at about 20 mph.

I asked for a new bumper and was denied. All they would do is repaint. When I went to pick up the car about a week later, they made me feel like they were doing me a favor in fixing my car... f*ckers!!!

There are several threads regarding uneven tire wear. There are posts involving the TSB and the experiences individuals have had with the dealerships. Please read the TSB for more detailed info. Print a copy of the TSB and take it with you as a reference .

A of Brooklyn is the worst! They stole my title when I was trading in my Maxima, I told them that I'm going to unleash war on them, kicked the door and went to the A of Manhattan. Anyone going to A of Brooklyn, don't waste your time, A of Manhattan is a much better option, and their service is good.
