Question Tire size on factory rims

I drive 2001 3.2TL. I need to replace my tires. I want to put wider tires, however I want to keep the existing factory rims. Does anyone know if 215/60-16 or 225/55-16 will fit the factory rims? What do you think about Nitto tires? Thank you in advance.

215/60 is too big, 225/55 is ok. Some of the members here run that size. Not sure about Nitto, but I like the Yoko AVS ES100.

I like them too. But I believe those are summer tires. Did you drive them during winter months?

I don't have them. I'm not sure if they are good in snow, but we don't have snow here, all we get is rain, wind and of course fog.

I just got 225/55HR16 RE950 Bridgestones. M+S. 400 rating.
I am in RI, same driving conditions as in NJ.

I just recently got those same tires on my car too.
225/55HR16 fit great on stock wheels. I'm not lowered so there's no rubbing issues. These RE950's may not be the best tire in the world but they're way better than stock POS and cheaper too.

225 is the biggest that will fit on the stock 6.5" width wheels. Even with the slightly larger overall diameter, the sidewall is stiff. (mainly due to the bridgestones using 2 ply sidewall as opposed to the single ply sidewalls of the stock POS tires)
