Tire Pressure Monitor

Tire Pressure Monitor
My tire pressure monitor (TPMS) consistantly reads 39-40 PSI for all 4 tires when the known pressure is 32PSI cold. Is there an adjustment the dealer can make for this? Thanks.

Double check whatever you are using the measure the tire PSI manually. I am not 100% sure which portion of the system would be calibrated, but if all 4 sensors are reading the same pressure, its likely what you are using to inflate them manually.

I assume your TPMS reading is also cold. If not, the pressure will increase as you drive and the tires heat up.
I would double check your pressure gauge. I hope you're not using one of those old fashioned stick deals. If so, do yourself a favor and get a nice one. Something good should cost ~$20-$30
Mine seem to be pretty accurate.

I agree about the digital gauge and you must check your tires when they are cold. Also I remember seeing something maybe in the tech bulletins about the tpms and altitude saying that the tpms readings are correct and gauges are effected by air pressure at altitudes.

The tires are set at 32PSI and were read with various quality gages including the dealer. The MID reads high as I stated in my original post. I read in a post elsewhere in this forum that the MID display thermometer could be user adjusted at the MID itself. I wonder if the TPMS has the same ability?

Have them show you another 2006 on the lot, and see how that one does. Compare the actual tire pressure on another car to it's TPMS reading.
I personally wouldn't sweat it (I never look at mine), but I could see how you would want it to work correctly.
