Question Tire pressure: MFD vs pressure gauge

Hello,
I have an '08 TL. Do you guys go with what the multi-function display says for tire pressure or do you go with what a pressure gauge reads? I get different numbers. It's +2-3 on the MFD vs the gauge. Thanks for your opinion.

I would go with the MID, it really depends on the tire pressure gauge they may all differ and not be correct!

Have you tried another digital gauge? It could be wrong.

Depends-- how good is your gauge? If it's one at the service station or attached to the air hose, I wouldn't trust it.

Even if your gauge is certified, I'd still check pressure with a different high-quality gauge to see whether the variance lies with the gauge or the TPMS sensors.

Oh, and the tires should only be checked when cold-- otherwise, the psi will be all over the place once the air inside has been heated by more than a mile of driving.

And yes, dealer service may forget about the air pressure on delivery of the car, or it may rely on an inaccurate gauge attached to the compressor hose.

I have found the MID tire pressure to be very accurate. I compared it to probably half dozen or more different guages and found it to be usually very accurate. Actually what I found was out of 6 -8 guages most wre within 1-2 lbs of each other and the MID, one or 2 guages gave really wierd readings. Since I usually keep my tires at about 36-37 all around I fugure even if the MID is 1-2 off I'm still in a good range.
