Tire Guru's: I bought TL Wheels for my 2g CL. What size tire will not rub?
My concerns:
Here is what I came up with for options:
Per tirerack:
This seems like it would be huge...not liking what they said.
Stock for the TL: 235/45
Per Inaccurate's write-up: 255/40
Basically, what is the smallest/widest tire I can use.
- Rubbing (since I am pretty low and the TL wheels are 8" wide)
- Look - I want an aggressive look, without sacrificing.
Here is what I came up with for options:
Per tirerack:
Unfortunately, we have not found any other sizes other than a 225/50R17 that can sufficiently carry the weight of the vehicle. The 225/50R17 will be a little wider and a little taller than the stock tire, so that may go in the wrong direction for your application.

What you want to do is get as close as possible to stock OEM diameter. I don;t know what the oem size is for the CL, but I'll use the size you listed on the wheels you have for sale.
225/40/18 is what you have, to keep the OEM diameter with the 17" TL wheels you'll need a 255/35/17.

First off, I think your best bet is post this question in CL forum, if you haven't already.
Second, what kind of agressive look do you want to achieve? Big squarish sidewall? Stretched?
I don't think you can go bigger than 235/45 R17. The TL rims are already very agressive for the CL. In fact, it's more agressive than your Evo C2. Tires any wider/bigger will rub.
I know that TL rims and tires on 2 gen TL will rub in the rear, even without lowering.
