thoughts on rims...

I was thinking about getting these for my 2005 TL, it's black. They have a set for 1250, which doesn't seem like a bad price. I'm still waiting to hear from a friend who works at a tire/rim shop to see what price he can get them. I plan on eventually getting the A-Spec suspension as well. Would I have any problems having these rims on the car? Anything I should know? This is really the first time I ever get after-market rims for a car, so I'm a total noob when it comes to these things

Front Wheel : 19x8.0 4x100/114.3 ET45 Silver w/2.5" Polished Lip
Rear Wheel : 19x8.0 4x100/114.3 ET40 Silver w/3.25" MAXIS Lip

thanks in advance...

I had that on my TL, the front looks great, but the rear looks really small. I prefer a wheels and tire that fill the wheel well.

First of all, they won't fit. 4x100/114.3 is not the correct PCD for the TL. You need 5x114.3.

Second of all, even if you get 5x114.3, the wheels will not fill the wheel wells good enough. You need lower offset, wider wheels, or both.

Ah, ok...you see I'm a noob

Ok, I found these...

Axis MOD 19x8.0 5x114.3 ET45 which is the correct PCD (btw, what does PCD stand for hehe)

What exactly do you mean by lower offset?

As for wider, you mean something like 8.5 or 9.0 ?

I had that on my TL, the front looks great, but the rear looks really small. I prefer a wheels and tire that fill the wheel well.
Can you recommend something similar that would fill the wheel well better? I definately don't want them too narrow.

I was also thinking of getting tires that were a bit wider. I curbbed like 3 rims on my old car.

Is 19 a good size for this car?

I really like the 9.5 Axis wheels, you can get a 8.5 in the rear, but again, I like a wheel that fills the wheel wells.

Ok, so basically 9.5 will fill the rear wheel wells. But how would 9.5 look in the front? Obviously on a FWD car, staggard is pointless, unless it's strictly cosmetic. I just don't want the front to look retarded. I think I rather have staggard on FWD so the wheels fill the wells, than to have them stick out in the front.

These didn't look too bad and they come in 19x8.5 and 19x9.5

Also these come in 19x9

I wouldn't put a 9.5 up front, it would stick out to far.

I like the staggered look, and am getting my Jaz Trinity in the am.

Yeah, I'm strictly going for looks so I don't mind getting narrower wheels in the front. It sucks a bit cause you can't rotate your tires (my previous car had different sizes), but then again I won't necessarily be driving the TL like I did the M3 hehe.

Would 8.5 fill nicely in the front? or 9?

The Jaz are nice, but I'm more into the thinner spokes, if you couldn't tell I like a lot of spokes, I was always a BBS wheels fan, except for their prices...

Those are 8.5 with a 40 offset, and they filled in good.

Where are you located?

Just got a set of Volks GTC 19x8.5 frt 19x9.5 in back. The rear wheel fills the out the back just fine. Did not want the staggered set up at first but got a good deal on this set up.

I saw posts that increasing the wheel size may affect performance? Any truth to that? Going from 17 to 19, how much much difference in the speedometer?

I don't see any change in accelaration performance, but again I don't drive that fast.

I can tell you that there is a huge improvement in the handling of the car, I am going to put the A Spec Suspension on along with the Comptech RSB, and I am sure I will see even more improvement.

I looked at your wheels today, very nice.
