I haven't heard anything negative about these tires until now - what was wrong with them?

My buddy has a set on his stock rims (size 225/50/16 I think) and he says their great for the price you pay. No problems so far for him and there are alot of potholes here where I live.

Kuhmos are prob the best cheap tires you can get. My bro and best friend both have them on their (civic and lude) and love em. I would recommend them

I had Kumho tires once too and I had no problems. I only heard good things about them. Before I buy something, I always do research. While back, Consumer Digest Magazine rated Kumho tires best BANG for the buck. On a test, they performed, Kumho tires performed just as well if not better than some of the other tires that are twice the price. On Tirerack.com has a consumer survey on Kumho Ecstas and they have one of the best overall rating on the survey. I think its the valvestem or the shop that is installing you tires.

I bought my car from the Acura Dealer with the Kumho
225/40ZR18 installed. I just turned 20,000 miles on my TL
this week. I noticed this weekend on both of my front tires
bulges in the sidewall the size of a golf ball. The dealer tried
to blow me off by saying it was not a manufacture defect and
that I must have hit a pothole or a curb. I called Tirerack.com
to order 2 replacement Kumho,s at $123.00/each. The person
I spoke to said I should not be running the 225/40ZR18 on this
vehicle? If you go to their website http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Option...rchDiameter=18 they suggest that I use a 215/45ZR18?
The contact at Tire rack said that a load capacity issue with
my current tire size is causing the problems with my tires.
I have the dealer researching this issue. Has anyone heard of
this? most of the posts show people using the 225/40/18.
Tirerack said I am a Firestone blowout waiting to happen.
Does anyone have documentation on what 18 inch tire size to use with my TL?

That really doen't make sense . whether its 215-45-18 or 225-40-18, it should be about the same. Maybe 215-45-18 will have thicker tire but only by very little. Keep us posted.

my saga continues. Got the new tires in on Monday and had them
installed at the Acura dealer. In a good faith gesture the dealer bought 2 tires and I bought 2 tires. Not bad since I had 20,000 miles on the Kumho,s. Got the Bridgestone Potenza S-02 215/45-18. Now my car has a major vibration and steering wheel shake on the freeway. I dropped the car back at the dealer yesterday morning to have them check the wheel balance. Now I am told that all 4 of my wheels are bent for some unknown reason. The only way to get ride of my steering wheel shake is to get 4 new wheels per the dealer. I bought these wheels through the Acura dealer and once again they are telling me I am on my own with this issue. I am taking my car to my buddies tire shop today in hopes they have the equipment to fix this problem.
I will keep you posted. Here is a picture of my wheels.

Has anyone with Kumho's driven their car in bad weather? (ex. snow, ice) I want to replace my stock tires but i need to know about traction in bad weather. As long as they are the same or better than stock, i guess i would be ok.

Elusive, most peeps have 225/40/18 on there cars and they have no problems. Could it be that the guys at your dealership don't know how to or don't have the equipment to work on big rims like yours? Maybe they damaged the rims when they installed the tires?!?!? I feel for ya bud!

Wheels are not bent! Acura of Bellevue came up with the wrong
diagnosis for my vibration problem. I took my car to Omni brake
and alignment in Kirkland to have them give me a second opinion.
They added weight to 3 of the 4 wheels and the tires are now
balanced and the vibration is gone. Nice that the dealer is giving such great information. Thanks for the input.

That's scary how useless Acura service techs are. I'd be back there in a heartbeat and let them know how fvckin stupid they are.

Been there done that. They attempted to be concerned that they could not figure out the problem. I know the people at the shop that fixed my car and they have not received a call from Acura to follow-up. I gave them both barrels on the service follow-up
cards.
