Thieves stole my Type-S wheels and I'm broke..Need some input.

Hi folks,

As in my thread the other day, some thieves stole the stock waffles off my Type-S.... Currently, I'm so broke I can't afford the stock rims on my car and just need some decent looking rollers on my car to get by. What do you guys recommend? My uncle has some tires for these 17inchers so that'll save me some cash but the budget is only up to $170'ish per rim.

Perhaps a set of those gold or gunmetal DRAGs would look okay for the time being.

Buy a used set of 04-06 stock rims from the black market since they should clear the front brakes and should be closer to $300-400 if you are going to use your own tires.

man, that really sucks. sorry to hear.

drag and xxr wheels are dirt cheap anymore if you like thier style. I know they have a lot of styles and sizes on backorder right now though.

rota knocks of damn near every wheel, and despite all the rota hate over the last few years, they are good wheels, dgaf what anyone says. if they hold up to my abuse, they are roadworthy tire holders.

Gotta get that deductible brought down, brother...WTF.
But yeah, comb the black market, you'll find people selling their stockies for pretty cheap normally.

But lock those up anyway...

Very sorry to hear about this!

Just a suggestion, but sell the Type-S if you're "broke". It's kinda like having a super sweet car when you can't even afford stock rims for it, you catch the drift here?
Broke and "TL Type-S" don't mix very well. Anywho, it's your money and your lifestyle =(

If you want to stay in the TL family, there are plenty of 04-06s for great prices.

Too broke to afford having the Type S in this neighborhood lol. Thought the Type S in stock form was undesirable with thieves but guess not... I actually do want to downgrade to an RL to be on the downlow.

Here in NY I frequently see 04-06 TL stockies for $250-$300.....sometimes they even have tires that are 50% tread. Keep looking bro, GL with everything.

lol, well besides interior and luxury features, I believe the RL of the same year is probably the same price or lower than the Type-S, less performance and much more low key in appearance.

thats the whole point of the RL, interior and luxury features.

thats like saying, "A bentley is no good because it cant out-corner a lotus." car models are made for a specific audience, and the RL wasn't made to be the fastest or the best handling of the acuras

If you want performance then it is a downgrade.

But I don't think that's what he was talking about.

Just found a set of tl stocks for 200 on craigslist, you shouldn't have a problem finding a decent set for cheap price

^^^That...
if you thought a type s was going to be undesirable to thieves... you'll have the same trouble with an RL.

ts_vaj,

Where do you live?

Check ebay. I've found some good wheel deals there in the form of refinished and aftermarket replacements.

Next time, GET WHEEL LOCKS!

Should have invested in some Locks for ur wheels next time. Thats the first thing I did so its a little harder to steal without the Thieves having to do some research. I get people all the time asking for me to sell them my Type S wheels its funny but then again it isn't if they steal them. I had a Fucker steal my Type S Badge last month and I was Pissed that I ordered another badge that same day I realized it was gone. Now Im scared they gonna steal it again

Either stockies off the BM like others said or if you're going aftermarket I like the MB rims, they were a choice when I was deciding on rims.

+1 on getting locks for the rims this time too if you haven't already.

+1 for wheel locks, my base '06 with stock rims has a wheel lock on each rim, even with stock, I guess the previous owner (80 yr old man) was scared someone was going to jack his base TL rims

Check out these rims:
Amazon Amazon

Assuming they fit those tires you mentioned, they are pretty nice wheels

Getting wheels locks now does nothing for his current situation.
