Are these Teins fake?

I've been looking into getting some tein s techs for my tl, however after reading around on here, some members mentioned ebay having fake teins.

I found a set for $165, which seems way too cheap... How can I tell if these are fake or not?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tein-S-Tech-Lowering-Springs-Set-04-08-Acura-TL-ua6-100-Genuine-/251494008527?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2004%7CMake%3AAcura%7CModel%3ATL&hash=item3a8e3606cf&vxp=mtr
If these are fake, where can I buy from to ensure they are genuine? Thanks guys

Buy from auto anything.

They're around 175 or so, I can't remember but ALWAYS look for a coupon code for 20 or 30% off and it ends up being 135.

135 is much cheaper than 175 and you know it's genuine.

Got mine for $149 shipped from autoplicity a few months ago. They always offer a 20% discount on shipping, but previous codes will work up to 35% off I believe.

It's hard to tell on ebay, I've seen my fair share of scammers on there. I recommend using one of the vendors from this forum or a more reputable site. We carry the Stech springs as well and we will often price match. We have them listed for $168.

TEIN Springs - STech - Excelerate Performance - Japanese and European Performance Specialists!!

to be honest you are better off saving up and getting the coilovers, the moneyyou are gonna spend with new shocks and top ends you might as well get the coilover tiens just my 2 cents though

llllBULLSEYE 12-29-2014 02:58 PM

I don't see why they would be fake. I paid $175 shipped for mine over a year ago
on ebay. Loved the Tein on stock shocks ride was nice. Now I have coilovers
and ride feels harsh.

He's probably going to use them on stock shocks. There's no report regarding premature failing of the stocks shocks on mild drops by changing the springs.
Most of the people who've had the stock shocks fail on them either had high mileage cars or were simply unlucky, and that's not even the stats for the ones running springs since the simple is so small.

CaliBud916 12-29-2014 04:34 PM

Thanks for the reply's everyone. Will go with one of the sites you guys provided instead. Yes they are going on the stock shocks until those blow (since they have 106k anyway), and then will probably throw some tokico blues in there (have used these for years with all sorts of springs/sleeve coilovers and had nothing but good experiences)

Ug, Auto Anything? Autoplicity? What happened to the vendor love on Acurazine?

They really aren't much more on Heeltoe:
Tein Suspension STECH Spring Kit, 04-08 Acura TL & TL-S, UA6 UA7, SKA52-AUB00 - HeelToe Automotive

Plus, we price match:

^^Sorry Mr. HeelToe, I did try and go through you with a price match. However, you had only matched the cost of the springs but not the total with shipping?...perhaps b/c you're shipping from CA to PA and it was too much of a discount? In any case, it didn't work out in that instance, but I wouldn't hesitate to use you guys, Excelerate, or EndlessRPM for my auto needs in the future.

MrHeeltoe 12-29-2014 10:14 PM

Thanks for using our price request function. Maybe I didn't see the shipping bit, or just couldn't. We ALWAYS appreciate the support, though!

Sorry Marcus, I'm sure you understand.

$171.94 on AutoAnything including free FedEx shipping, plus coupon codes that usually bring it to $135 with free shipping, it's a clear choice.

Some may say it's similar to supporting your local mom and pop store (the whole paying a little bit more, smiling, greeting and chatting to the employees in person, receiving the item immediately) vs ordering online (paying less, but waiting for shipping), but it's not the same situation, at least in my eyes.

In this case, any vendor purchased from needs to ship it out anywho, might as well go the cheapest route.
The only reason I can see someone spending the extra $40 to buy the springs from you is because the outstanding service and support you have.

First response is, I simply do not believe these springs are available anywhere for under $140 WITH free shipping. If they are, it is surely an error (whether you take advantage of the error or not, it is still an error).

Heeltoe has a personal connection to you. Auto-whatever doesn't care if you buy from us. They assume some of you will buy from us from time to time, but a lot of you won't because you don't because you care about price more than service. We do care if you buy from somewhere else, though, because we put a lot of effort into our site and our postings here which we hope pays a dividend in sales.

I do understand why you'd want to save money...but we'd really like a chance to be the ones who do it for you. We've got our super-simple custom pricing module we linked up. We approve almost every request we get to some degree, and about 40% of our approvals result in a purchase. It is not a veiled attempt at sucking you in...our custom pricing function works!

Marcus

It isn't the same as you lay this out.

We are the place you can call while you are under your TL, dirty and bloodied hands, frustrated and needing advice on a Sunday, whom can help you find solutions to get you on the road again. That, to many, is invaluable. We talked a 4th Gen user through his install last weekend, little help with the rears, a little help with the assembly...nobody else can you call to get reliable advice like that.

We just happen to be nice enough to help you, no matter where you buy.

guitarplayer16 12-30-2014 04:26 PM

This was a member who bought during black friday 2013, but I was looking to buy S.Tech springs during this summer 2014, and also used a 20% code I found.

I haven't checked out if promo codes still work for Tein purchases on their site, so you're probably right about it being an error.

You happen to help out anyone no matter where it's bought, which is great.
I still remember your thread about you offering help on any defective items or troubles from ordering from other stores.
That proves you have outstanding service, in which I stated above in my earlier post.

It's also worth mentioning only a handful of people who buy springs install it themselves.

Just want to give people more options on where to buy things, that's all.
In the end it's up to the customer, and options are always nice.

I did my search and no one seem to answer this this question. So I will post it here.

According to Tein, the fake Teins are making it's way around for the 5th time "today."

TEIN USA | COUNTERFEIT

Why are there fake Tein springs? To make money and rip off people.

Are Tein's that good where it's worth copying? Why aren't there fake Eibach, fake H&R, fake Koni shocks, or fake Tokico?

Why are the counterfeiters only focusing on Tein?
