Question Tein Street Basis: Some Specs I Haven't Seen Addressed

i was looking at the ride height adjustability for the tein street basis and noticed that you can apparently go lower with the street basis than you can with the basics & the super street. from what i see you can go 10mm lower in the front, and 7mm lower in the rear.

the specs for max lowering are as follows:
tein street basis (F/R): -73mm / -66mm
tein basics & super street (F/R): -63mm / -59mm

likewise, the min drop has also been increased on the tein street basis. however, it seems as though the recommended drop of -44mm has remained constant throughout. given that this is established by a reference dimension (1in) given in the installation instructions, i'd assume that the initial drop (using the 1in reference dimension) would've also increased.

i spoke to a rep at tein and he said the max lowering info is correct, but it seems odd that this hasn't been addressed by any of our vendors (heeltoe or excelerate), or anyone else for that matter.

can anyone shed some light on this?

probably because the extra lowering capability is so minimal, the venders didn't feel a need to address it?

good find tho

But that's the thing, I think that it actually is rather substantial. In terms of lowering a car, an additional ~.4" (front) and ~.3" (rear) would seem to be a definite plus to this new product, and therefore something worth mentioning. Maybe I'm wrong and ur right...who knows. I'd just like to get one of the experts to shed some light on this subject.

Just my opinion.

Basics go lower and little performance, no ride adjustments.

Super Street not too low with performance and ride quality adjustable.

I'm not sure what needs to be addressed. The recommended lowering is still the same: 1.7" F&R. The spring rates are the same. The minimum drop is now 1.1" F and 1" R instead of 0.9" F and 0.9 " R. It's a very negligible amount. On the other hand the maximum drop is now up .4" F and .3" R, which is a nice perk for those who want to go lower.

Keep in mind the TEIN Street Basis is just a progression of the Basics. It's basically the same setup but with just some improvements. TEIN also has to compete with all the other companies who offer coilovers that slam the car so they probably increased the lowering amount in order to attract more consumers.

that about sums it up...i just wanted reaffirmation that the max drop level did in fact increase. as i stated, it seems like an added benefit and would be something worth mentioning in the product description but i have yet to see this stated anywhere.

i appreciate the reply...
